Yeah, I actually posted it about 3 weeks ago and somehow the post disappeared. Got a PM from someone that prompted me to check it and alas, it was gone. Weird board shit, but I do check the last post on the list before bidding on anything otherwise it's not effective...
I say start the list over. Those who want or still choose to participate can put there name on the new list. All others a fair game and vice versa. The list had been dormant for quite a while, but it has been getting a bit of activity lately. Also it used to be updated on the first post.
i never had problems with the list. latelly i've been buying old toys and comics so i don't think i have a problem with anybody here anyways...
i have mixed feelings about the list... because you saw an auction first shouldn't mean shit and suppose you put a max bid of say $20 for (insert rare toy you've never seen go on auction before ) and you get pissed that someone you know (who is willing to lay down $100+) goes over the top on you and you get pissed? this makes no sense. On the otherhand, I've gotten PMs about people saying straightup $300 on an auction and they want to make sure I'm not at $350 (when I'm usually at $150 or so ) ... I think that's polite. in all, i wish I didn't know other people's auction names and they don't know mine.. this is too late now, so I'm indifferent to the list staying up... but I can see how people bidding on what you want may piss you off, but hey... it's an auction site and that's what happens. at the same time, i've only had good experiences with the list. as i said, i have mixed feelings
Sounds to me that people like the list when it works and not when it doesn't. As long as it's around I'll do my best to follow it. To me it sounds like a good idea and would be cool if it worked. As far as who sees an auction first... seeing it first does count in my opinion. If somebody else saw it first, then ask. Frankly, the list is a good test of putting your money where your mouth is when it comes to RFSO. If not, then what the fuck? In that case, what is RFSO but a post count and a red hoody?
well i'm glad people gave their opinion and this thread didn't get ugly. and as creevox said...step up and show you mean it. there's no accidental, "sorry i bid that mutant head up to $300 on you..you can go for it"....i like to think gentleman's agreements can be an effective way for everyone to get what they want. thankfully, i'm not actively searching for real head anymore, and i have my own way of getting anraku so i'm not going to be battling you guys for it on yja and ebay, but for other folks this is pretty important. RFSO means different things to all of us for sure, but the one underlying theme for me is looking out for other folks. that's what it's all about for me.
if we're friends i ABSOLTUELY AND POSITIVELY won't bid against you KNOWLINGLY. hell...i'm 41 now! i bid AGAINST MYSELF SOMETIMES! SERIOUSLY!
Well it looks like the list will stay but I actually think the new ebay policy has made it irrelevant. When this board started we used the list to keep from inflating the market prices. Back then there wasn't much to be found on ebay (no RM or RxH and SB every now and then). YJA was loaded with toys so it made since to wait your turn to get a figure for a better price. The list was never really meant to keep people from bidding against each other on super rare items or "holy grails". This actually worked well for along time but that time is past.
I actually think a shit list mike be more useful now. The thing that drives me nuts is when people buy stuff in the BST forum and use it as inventory for their ebay stores. This basically kills RFSO pricing for all of us. This seems to be happening a lot more recently and it has gone international people from Hong Kong to Fort Worth are having clambakes and RFSO is their butter.
That's a nice idea, but legitimate reasons should be given for adding someone, lest it be abused and become a "he outbid me on this auction so I'm putting him on the shit list".
I wasn't talking about a shit list for bidders, only sellers and users. I don't really want a public shit list, it would be impossible to manage. People used to get called out on that kinda shit but I am tired of being told I don't collect for the right reasons or that I am a bully. Let everyone fend for themselves.
jeez glenn...you collect stuff and keep it for more than a week? what kind of collecting is that? what's wrong with you? god you're such a bully
I've checked the list when bidding at eBay and recently backed off from an auction when a fellow RFSO member outbid me. I also knew from comments over here that this person really wanted that thing ... I knew that I didn't as much. OTOH I've been outbid by fellow members here many times, but despite my frustration I blame myself for that. I haven't put my eBay handle on the list yet, so ... my fault. I've been debating committing to the list but after reading through this whole thread my impression is that most people are fair and reasonable and that a little communication goes a long way to make competition less antagonistic. So, I'm thinking about adding my handle as I don't have a lot of connections and need to rely on eBay sometimes. Having given it some thought, I feel this is a fair compromise: I will honor the list whenever I can. If I seriously want something, I'll attempt to contact the competitor, however, I reserve the right to "violate" the list if there's something I truly, truly want. Since I'm a newb still establishing his areas of emphasis, there are very few things that I want all that badly ... I'm still easy to please while sampling the kaijuverse. Just please let me win some Blobpus stuff now and then and I'll let you have your RxH and Cronic. If you're a fellow Blobpusian then we can talk. Is that fair? Honor the list most of the time, but play hardball when it feels justified? I trust myself to not be a jerk, you know? IMHO the current list should be eliminated and a new one started to keep it current and to let those who no longer wish to be a part of it an opportunity to abdicate.
i agree with you. if i had the chance i wouldn't put my name on the list again. too many people don't care, stalk auctions, and snipe them at the last minute. all set with "the list". personally, all auctions on ebay are fair game for me now. i'm not going to be bidding on stuff people here are really after anyway as the stuff i like doesn't come up too often!
When I get mad and I get pissed I grab my pen and I write a list Of all you assholes that won't be missed You've made my shit list - L7, Shitlist
