A shame. I was just reading the Wiki page on him and The Cramps a while back because I knew he was older. He just seemed like one of those people that would last forever.

jesus, this is terrible. I'm a huge Cramps fan, and have been lucky enough to see them perform. I had no idea he was ill. RIP.

I used to race home after school to catch a mid afternoon video show that played Iggy's "I'm Bored" and The Cramps "Garbage Man". Those two pieces, along with Devo and The Stranglers are what lead me into a life of punk and new wave.

Bah, man that sucks. One of the bands who helped define my music taste in my young impressionable years. What a damn shame.

This is a huge loss - the Cramps had an immeasurable influence on me. It's hard to believe there will be no more Cramps shows.

  9. wow, this totally fucking sucks.
i had some great times at their shows.
i thought that bad music for bad people, was one of the best titles of an album ever.

Shit. One of the best live bands EVER; saw 'em for the first time in 1980, and the last time was about 3 years ago (as well as about 4 times inbetween), and they had lost none of their energy or showmanship. A major loss for music - RIP you crazy motherfucker.

Was so pleased to have gotten to see them play a Halloween show in SF.
    Very sad.

    Let's do some stuff

Tomorrow we'll feel like we was hit by a truck but ...
    Let's get fucked up

Damn. I only saw them live once, and Lux was all over the stage like a spider monkey, hanging off of rafters, jumping about, and generally entertaining the hell out of everyone. The Cramps wrote some "theme" songs for a certain time in my life and will always kick my ass. RIP Lux Interior.

    bummer.

I got to work on the video shoot for "Bikini Girls with Machine Guns" on the set and at the director's house during filming. I got to cart around the band, party with the band, and wait on their every request. Good times and fond memories.

Cramps- Smell of Female (live at the Peppermint lounge) was one of the first cassette tapes I purchased as a youth. Love the Cramps. Listening to that live lp now.... Thee Most Exalted Potentate of Love!

Funny - I brought Smell of Female to work and have been listening to it all day. I probably haven't played it in 10 years, at least.

I saw the Cramps in Boston on that tour (although Ike Knox had replaced Kid Congo by then) and it was my very first concert. I stood right up front and Lux let me sing into the mic during Goo Goo Muck.

Man, where did the years go? I would try to catch them every time they came to Boston (and then Colorado when I moved there). But nothing will replace the experience of listening to those records and then as an impressionable kid seeing them hit the stage for the first time. Yowza.
