Don't need to do anything except for sign up and skip the intro, then look at the map. See the white dots? Go there, that's your best bet for a spawn. I was wondering why walking around my street had absolutely ZERO chance of spawning anything... No dots. None. A street nearby though... Well, let's say I'm taking a walk tonight!

Dots are high spawn rates, so technically both! I often find Pokemon when approaching Pokestops, and it's not surprising that they'd be hotbeds of cellular activity since so many people are visiting them and lingering near them. But if you're far from any Pokestop like me, the dots are pretty much the ONLY place to find Pokemon. My entire street has zero spawns because cell activity is so low. No dots on Ingress.
OH DUDES! DUDES! So Friday night Skylar and I stop at a park in Philly because we see 3 or 4 lures set there. We are like "Eh, let's pull over and see what we get" There are like 50 kids there playing and wandering around. I'm getting tons of guys, and they seem to be spawning constantly. Then from another corner of the park a kid starts screaming, other kids start running, I get wrapped up in the hype and start running too because I see this "Nearby" on my screen: Before I know it the kids are all screaming GYARADOS!!! NO I"M NOT SHITTING YOU THERE IS A FUCKING GYRADOS HERE! ...But it escapes us all. the 50 or so of us work as a team-split up and fan out. We're all assuming we missed it...then I leave the park with 2 other kids and suddenly. HERE HE IS! and we have first crack at him. The kids all run toward us and everyone is nervewrackingly trying to catch the dude.... and That's the story of how I walked away with a wild 808 CP Gyarados! Fuck you 400 Magikarp candies. FUCK YOU. haha.
@BrickBat Washington Square Park-Seems to be a hotbed of trainers. It was after midnight but the place was jammed with kids on phones. haha.
Tracking has been down, here at least... i had a few on my radar yet no matter which way you went it would not go down. i did get the tracking down prior to this though. as of now i have 72 unique, and have seen 75. 3 of the bastards left even though i fed them berries and great balls. its fun. although i haven't went hard since Wednesday. I play with my daughter when I have her at a more chill level. with her its about pokestops to get her as many balls as possible, as shes just throwing them however the circle is lol. everybody was like. WHOA. you're playing on the iPad! lol, too cute. im probably going to actually purchase some more bag storage. and some lucky eggs and incubators for sdcc. might as well get something out of the walking. i think pokeballs will be a plenty though.
Tracking has not worked once for me since I started, it's immensely frustrating because we see all this amazing stuff nearby but have no idea where to go. Just walk in circles aimlessly forever and ever and nothing ever changes hah I have approximately zero interest in battling so I've been taking turns with the spouse, I just want to collect/hunt and he wants to battle, so it works out fine so far that way. We have had the Plus units on order, hopefully that will make things easier
@missy Love that story. I feel like the game of chance aspect is a major part of the appeal for me. Nothing to get your heart racing like finding a final evolution or a ??? cp monster out in the wild. Finding a Gyarados would have made me go nuts.
Been playing for a little over a week now, enjoying the shit out of it! Found 61 unique, level 14, and taken a couple gyms and held each one for definitely less than 10 minutes. Went out to Balboa Park, in San Diego, Friday night and found literally hundreds of people playing at 11pm! Laughed a little too hard at a wedding reception this game completely ruined, then felt bad. But hey, now they'll always have a story about planning their wedding a year ahead of time just to have it swarmed by Pokemon trainers though! I've been really enjoying the side effects of the game, people are out in the world at all hours, local businesses are seeing spikes, bodies are being found when they may not have been otherwise, and idiots are falling off cliffs! Kinda fascinating. anyway. Found out yesterday that if you tap a pokeball you missed with as its rolling away you can pick it back up and use it again! Could have saved so many balls! Now you know!
I stand corrected, tapping to pick up used balls does not work. It looks like it does somehow but your inventory still goes down.
I hatched a Porygon last night so that was fun. Then I finally caught enough eevees to evolve one into Jolteon...... I did the whole Sparky trick... Shut down and all.... And I got Flareon ...... That is now 5 Vaporeons, 3 Flareons and zero Jolteons... WAMP wamp
Weird, I just evolved a Flareon last night using the naming trick and it worked for me, it also worked for my Jolteon.. Maybe soon they'll give us a trading feature. Heard Niantic has to manually spawn ledgendary Pokemon, wondering if they'll try that out for SDCC. Pretty sure this shit is going to be intense at the convention. Which will be awesome and horrible. What that convention needs is more reason for nerds to run into you and not pay attention to where they're walking!
Haha it's not a big deal! It worked once, but then it hasn't after that. My wife ran into the same problem. I think they switch it up every now and then maybe? Like they want to keep new people guessing?
i would assume since they just released the game in a couple other countries that they might have patched some stuff up but thats a huge bummer still lol

I figured out the Eevee issue! You can't do the same evolution two times in a row apparently. So if you forced Jolteon last time, you have to force a Flareon or Vaporeon, then you can do Jolteon again. Apparently my game glitched, I had a Jolteon and it got traded in. Sometimes this game man haha

I downloaded it to see what the fuss was about, caught a Charmander in the garden and deleted the game. I don't need another time-sapping virtual world inhabited by OCD freaks and mindless asshats . . . I have all I need right here on Skullbrain!
