Passion Tank Toys is new to the toy scene and at the time of writing recently have just debuted their detailed Shin Godzilla sculpts at Wonderfest 2019. These sculpts are fantastic. While I personally am not a fan of hyper realism in sofubi (I leave that style to S.H. Monsterarts and X Plus) I can't deny the skill behind these and can only dream of scoring a red blank Fingers crossed for many, many more releases by this highly talented brand!
Same. Hyper-realism = action figure/action model. ...BUT these look very nice in sofubi form Are these sculpts of a Godzilla design from 2016? or were they released in 2016?
These were sold at the most recent Wonfest this year. Shin Godzilla came out in 2016 (time flies I know!).
wish these shin godzillas werent all limited to one day WF licenses, it drives the price up so high making it virtually impossible to own
Also not a fan of hyper-realism but the head and tail look great IMO. Looks like a very tactile sculpt that rewards running your fingers over it, kinda like Bemon and other sculpts. Any sense of the size?
Honestly they’re not that hyper realistic. Yes they do have a lot of detail, but I wouldn’t say statue esque/garage kit kind of detail. I think they still hold true to the more classic side of soft vinyl. That’s just my opinion though. Absolutely love these that being said.. Hoping for more in the future and or a bigger run size, so that they are semi obtainable without the bonkers aftermarket price outs...
This Goji is incredible ! Well time to try and figure out how to track one down. Thanks for posting this !!!
It really does make a difference. The WF Sunguts Shin Goji are markedly cheaper online, and it's only the second run of those sculpts. Re: the sculpt, I love all the texture too and think the enlarged head helps deflect it from hyper-realism a bit. It's got a slightly super-deformed look I find really charming.
I also dig this sculpt a lot...it kinda feels like Shin Goji filtered through a Valley of Gwangi T-rex lens. But yeah, the Y!J prices for this first run can suck it. Twice. Hope these will be obtainable at some point!
Having this guy in hand, can confirm, he is just fantastic! Incredible sculpting yet again from Handsome Taro.. I am quite partial to my Sunguts Shin, and he still remains my favorite. But this guy is right up there with him! Comparatively he's about the same height and scale, but a more slimed down, less chunky, hyper realistic counterpart.. Spoiler: Close up shots!
Sorry, this is one day license item. Japan only sales.
Not completely sold on this Ultraman but at another glance it does remind me of the Umezzu manga version a little bit. Hm. Will have to give it more thought.
I grabbed one and it's apparently supposed to be a tribute to an old Popy Ultraman. There was also another Ultra he made but I forgot it's name or to take a photo. Edit for clarification the only difference was a head swap. Also the blank red one was well sold out by the time I got to them.
Here you go. Unfortunately mine has some scratches; I didn't notice until monday that the bag he was in had a hard plastic "bead" in it that did some damage. It's an easy fix though so I'm not worried about it. Tsuburaya WonFes 2019 treasures by Doug Hardy, on Flickr Tsuburaya WonFes 2019 treasures by Doug Hardy, on Flickr
FINALLY getting a blank red Shin Godzilla soon. Trading for a piece that I like but want this one more
Tried very hard to nab one at the recent Treasure Fest Online show, but the site broke down immediately at the first event in September, and it became impossible to check out. Of course the Shin Goji allotment sold even with that going on and at least a couple ended up on YJA right away. That said, I haven't seen anywhere near the run size for resale and there's a chance orders were cancelled because of the whole shitshow, so I'll be keeping my eyes open.
Speaking of Passion Tank, they recently teased a new variant on Instagram. People keep asking how to purchase but I'm pretty sure the license doesn't extend outside of Japan and it is typically a one day license. One can dream though.
Yep, that was the exact release at Treasure Fest, which makes me wonder if they cancelled those orders and just didn't relist when the event was rescheduled. Blank glitter ones were however available the second time around, so I have no idea. As much as I want one of these, I don't think I'd enjoy a chunk of plain glitter vinyl that large.
Ah OK. My apologies, I thought those had yet to be released. I should learn to read. Yeah, that sort of glitter vinyl can be a bit too intense without any paint applied. That said, I wouldn't turn it down if someone offered one to me at or slightly above retail.
That is correct in regards to the one day license sadly. I had to get my Passiontank through Yahoo Japan
