It's about time. I hope it's the same translation as the Rialto release, because it was very good. The Raymond Burr version really doesn't convey the same impact that the original does, especially when it comes to the consequences of using the oxygen destroyer.
I've never seen it, sincerely can't wait. movie night John????? we used to watch Godzilla movies together all the time when we were kids. c'mon everyone "AWWWWWWW"
it's not really like other "godzilla movies" though, that's the thing. I mean, obviously it's great because it started it all, but I'm not a huge fan of this or Gigantis (Godzilla Raids Again, whatever you want to call it). I mean, they're obviously very different and intended to be that way, and I know it's not the popular opinion, but I actually prefer later, silly godzilla. that's what I grew up watching, that's what I think of when I think "godzilla movies" later showa movies are my favorites, followed by the heisei series. but that's just me!!!
well i've only read about the first movie in murakami books, so i'm pretty interested in from a socio-political front. personally i'm not going into it expecting the same fun and silliness that marked the later films, but it should be interesting, especially when you think about the climate in which it was created.
oh absolutely. I mean, I like it, dont' get me wrong. it's just not my preferred godzilla. a lot of people seem to hate that he developed into this fun symbol for kids. I personally love that. but yeah, the original is a horror movie, straight up. it's meant to be terrifying and really does convey the feeling at the time (I say that like I was there or something).
No way-I fuckin hate monster movies!! wink wink!! Got these at BJ outlet for 12 bucks for the 2 pack..Killer quality!!
