I'm going to begin sculpting this weekend. Opinions on the design are very much welcome. Are the stitches on the eye too evocative of the Blobpus stuff? I was going for a pagoda feel for the armor plates. Successful? Head fin runs down the length of his back, ending in a small tail. Other than the horns, are ppendages needed? C'mon guys, let fly. Be brutal, if you think the design is lacking. Would you want something like this in your collection?
I have some roughs of the side and back, but none fininshed to the degree of that seen above. I'm a big fan of "happy accidents" in the creative process; Other than the overall design, I tend not to plan things out very rigidly. Doesn't do anyone deciding whether or not it's a decent design a damn bit of good, I agree. Think wedge-shaped, slug-like body tapering to a tail. Fin descending the lenth of the back, reducing in size towards the tip of the small tail. Shit. I should just scan the damn things in...
yea - just post your sketches so we can get an idea of the shape at least... they dont need to be complete
Is it going to be done in resin or will this be rotocast vinyl? How big will it be? The design is interesting. If it's gonna be sluglike ala Jabba the Hutt it might go great with a pair (or two) of arms. Also if it's gonna be in vinyl you might want to thicken up the fins on his back (if they are fins that is).
ooo might look cool if the arms come out of the top under the horns but above the eyes skinny and hang down all the way to the floor
Isn't there something from Marmit or M1 that is very similar...orange but a bit taller? I saw it the other day but forgot where.
Please try to recall where you saw it. I don't want to produce anything similar to stuff already available. I like this design, but I'm not THAT attached to it.
that's why i was asking about the other sides of it - twintail looks like a bent centipede, but the way you describe your design, it will have more dimension and be more of a conical shape
try it with some arms in this shape can you show a quick sketch of how it would be shaped from the profile?
do you draw with a tablet or something? i like the smaller wings better - with the big wings it's starting to look like a messed up gremlin
Get all "Blobpus" on it and do tentacles. Or lobster claws. Or tentacles with lobster claws. I agree, it needs some sort of appendage. Also, totally Meatwad, that's not an insult or anything, just the first thing I thought of looking at it. Maybe give it a big gross empty socket instead of the stiches, and have a seperate piece that can go inside (made form a dif. color resin or whatever you plan to use) Like maybe not an eyeball, but another, smaller round character, like a sidekick, who lives in his empty eye socket. Just thoughts.
Yep. Draw original on paper and ink/color in Photoshop. I still can't pull off sketches on screen. Gotta have old-fashioined paper.
