    Aw man those were fun!

Anyone remember the Rat Fink Rad Rods? They're of course bigger than the SMBs w' removable figures, but they definitely come to mind.

There were only a few figures to the line, but Damn were they cool.

Ha! I remember those fucking things (the Savage Mondo Blitzers)! Me and one of my buddies on the block used to go to the Ames down the street and steak the shit outta them.

If I recall correctly, they came carded--a few of them per card, arranged vertically...easy to rip off. Lol

Haha, Yep, they're definitely carded ;)

Going back & checking these guys out, I've realized just how much I Reeaallly like this series. And with there being only 7 of them, I think I'm gonna aim to collect the whole set on card! It's such an all-around Fun Guys Toy, with Awesome old-school monster art (Big Daddy Roth's the Man!) that includes each characters' own illustrated trading card w' their vehicle, cool "suped-up" lil' mod hot-rod vehicles, And bad ass mini rubber monster figs! I think I appreciate them more now than I did in my childhood.

The four you have pictured are friction powered cars. Not sure of the other friction one but there is also a different rat fink in a silver rocket style car. There are also three water propelled cars with different drivers.

Yeah, the Fink man himself is the only character that has two versions; Rat Fink in purple threads w' the "Rockin' Roadster" vehicle (the one pictured above), & in orange threads w' "Sonic Scream" (the rocket car you mentioned, Doc). And then there are 5 other characters w' their own "Stunt Vehicles", including a Tank & a 3-Wheeler.

I saw those hydroracers when I was lookin back into the Rad Rods. Wasn't clear on their size or whether the figures were removable though, which is one of the aspects I like about the Rad Rods series.

There's another mini series called Mod Rods w' realistic small hotwheelsish diecast cars by Racing Champions that have Rat Fink characters sticking out of the top, but they are attached to the vehicles... Haven't really developed an opinion on these yet.

Hydro racers are same scale as the Rad Rods ( bit larger). They are more like large skate boards with a water propelled tank on the back. Figures are same size and removeable.

BTW - if any body is interested, I have a full set of the SMB still in package.

I didn't get disappointed with the quality of Rat Fink "Mod Rods". Racing Champions die cast cars and plastic figures look great and pretty close to Ed "Big Daddy" Roth's art. I love my '55 Chevy with "Beyond Nuts" classic character! <3

Hey Dr tongues toys. Do you mean an entire set that're still carded, or "set" as in the set on 1 card still packaged? Hope I said that right.

As well you should! :) I do think it's pretty cool that each "Mod Rod" vehicle's based off of a real custom vehicle that Ed did. And he sure made some kick-ass rides. In fact, I wouldn't mind havin a "coffee table" book of his hot rod customs. Another added to the list ;)

Thanks for showin me a good example of a Mod Rod, Cyberann [IMG]

I have I think four or six different cards with four to six cars on them. Bought them way back when because they looked cool.

Umm, let's address that meathook ;)

Ha, no, I really am curious though.

Is it for pulling a large catch into the boat, say an Amberjack, Marlin, Mermaid, Aquaman, Tripus..?

Thats so cool, I really like a lot of the devil toys made in the late 70's/early 80's. like the devil mad ball bootleg and things like that, seems like such an unsafe choice for a toy character aimed at kids.

i hadn't even thought about toys for months. but those good ol' saved searches on ebay give me emails now and again, and i had to pull the trigger on this:

probably the longest running grail want in my history of toy collecting. it feels good to finally complete my Warrior Beasts run (but still need the Pirates of the Galaxseas Ribs & Crossbones if you count the full motu-style remco goal i've been working at).

Sweet, congrats on finally finding him. Toy dedication pays off, and I can really appreciate when folks in the hobby stick to what they love rather than the latest thing. The real question becomes though, after the Remcos are completed, where do you go from there? Bootleg bootlegs? (i.e. the foreign stuff) :)

Thanks for posting these, Jason. I forgot all about that Overkill!

Ha, you just added two more toys to my wish list ;)

Power lords were a really weird line of toys. They weren't clear and didn't change at all other than flipping around to reveal another face that was on the back side of the figure.

Yeah, the Four Horsemen are teaming up with Matt Doughty/Onell Design again to revive Power Lords...the same way they did the Outer Space Men. Should be hot given their combined creativity!

    Abso-fucking-lutely.

$125 for a two-foot tall transforming robot toy. That's pretty amazing shit!

I'm already over the power lords reboot. Making adam power two figures destroys any interest the original line had. And I have to admit I always admired the line more for the look of the promotion and posters than the actual toys.
