I really wanted the Ronin Tee they put out, but it said Supreme on it so it was a no go for me. Skull-Kun is great, at least they didn't put supreme on a place you can't get rid of it.
Fuck me, that was stressful! I'm too old for webshop frenzy's! I'm still shakin' like a shitting dog! I need to lie down!
Both landed on my desk today, but thats where the similarities end . . . Blue has way longer arms, stands around ½" shorter and was made around 2,000km east of where the 'Supreme' version started life.
I think biff meant do they do Lean, and I would assume only the Supreme one, cause Lean is streatwear 101...
No, I mean lean. Kuns have had a tendency to lean over time. Since the 2 Andy got were different, I was curious if that was finally fixed with a new sculpt/ mold.
I'd say the Chinese factory Supreme looks like it uses the old 'leaning' molds and the Japanese versions look like the body's been reworked from a cast of the original vinyl (somehow correcting the stance along the way), but with everything reducing and thinning, the arms just don't hug the body in the same way as originally intended (they've lost the girth but not so much on the length •schoolboy snigger•). But WTF do I know!
Blank black, straightforward Mickey Mouse sofubi for ¥66,000, all for a BxH foot stamp. First BxH toy I see zero point in existing.
Lost opportunity to do a skull kun take of Mickey? Kinda like what Pushead and Lazzarini did of Kaws? Even Disney Steamboat Willie Pete was more fun interesting IMO edit: thinking about it more, I all I want to see is a Pushead skull kun
I mean, we do have the BxH x CLOT x Mind Style Mickey Kun, which is insanely bad ass in my opinion. But SOMETHING could’ve been done here. Even the stuff Mean Pete with the plush Mickey body is super fun, and the Steamboat Willie Pete is mean as hell. The CLOT x BxH Mickey with the hoodie, shorts and studded belt is so much fun ‘cause they added BxH elements to it. This…? You put on a retail shelf with no discernment and I’d still walk right past it without even wondering if BxH touched it. The body just reminds me of Dave Bondi’s Akashi Mario with the closed fists. It’s cool to have gotten the license, but it’s too Disney and not enough BxH for me.
This was made by Floc, who I think were a Brazilian toy company. I wonder if Kid Hunter was maybe inspired by more than the crew of the Guppy?
