Well, you make a good point. I come and go for periods of time, but mostly what brings me back over and over are the good people I've met here over the years. Sadly, some of the toys have not kept my interest, but there's always a nice group of weirdos I can generally relate to here, many of whom have become really great friends of mine.

I sometimes just really enjoy throwing a little oil on the fire and watching the sparks fly. Its the old troublemaker punk in me. Throwin' stink bombs into the crowd and laughing when the chaos begins.

I probably have the least "approved' collection of stuff on this board, but its awesome, and no amount of bullying would make me change what I'm into or have me stop posting what I love. Buy what you like, don't buy what you don't, and once in a while ruffle some feathers to keep yourself amused.

At my first comic-con meeting SB crew in person, i expressed a some insecurity about not having a big vinyl or kaiju collection. Locomoco patted me on the back and said "We all share the same psychosis. Dolls, Vinyl. Same thing."

From that day on I felt like part of your gang. You guys are family, and sometimes families have fights. Its all good. I just don't feel the new toys. And I miss the magazine something fierce!

 

I really like some of the Anraku stuff - especially the Goga. I just can't justify the secondary market prices. $100-125 and I'd be all over them.

 

People are talking of sb as being originally created as a spot for kr refugees... I was wondering if there was a spot these days for people who are not teenagers and who also like non-Japanese vinyl? I honestly don't know why it couldn't be here, even if of course limited to a specific forum to spare everyone's feelings... As someone pointed out, the difference between a lot of the current s7 stuff and Western vinyl is limited to the "made in Japan" tag...

Or does this board, being s7's, follow what they sell (or would sell) only? (Which would be totally fine, just wondering...)

 

Brian I'm not going to really get into it, but if newer folks followed this advice I think there would be a lot less animosity.

I'd rather read someone's opinion about why they like a toy rather than just saying things like "+1", etc.

Either way I don't really care who collects what. I have friends that collect vintage diecast, kr stuff, and creepy carol channing ventriloquist dummies ( ), if you're cool and respectful I'm ok with that. I recall you and I having a discussion at SDCC last year, and you brought up a really good point. People here wouldn't say half of the shit that gets posted if they were talking to you face to face. I still love Super 7 toys, I buy a couple a month I think at this point, but I won't buy everything because not all of it fits my collection.

As it's been said over and over, buy what you like. If you don't, you end up with closets full of crap that you can't sell for a fraction of retail.

If you or others haven't seen or read Noam Chomsky's Manufacturing Consent it is well worth your time. It comes from a different point of view (indoctrination and mythmaking) but the end result is the same.

Opinions are always more fun and interesting, and sometimes even carry power of connotation and influence ... to cause people to reconsider their initial reactions. You don't have to be a fancy writer about it, just try saying something, you know? Just a friendly suggestion with an eye to keeping this place fun.

Some of us who don't buy as much as we used to will again when we can, trust me.

i don't see what the big deal is, lets be honest that less than ten years ago we all owned a lil kid robot, in fact i financed my first S7 toys by selling my series one [expletive deleted], and i am sure i am not the only one.

1-stink bombs-Metaphorical. I didn't think I'd have to explain that one.
2-Nothing was directed at Brian. He wasn't even on this thread until 6 pages in.
3-Dummys haven't even been around for 10 years
4-I've never owned one, but if I did, I would have kept it because if I bought one in the first place, it would have only been because I liked it, not because it was some cool new trend. By your logic, your beautiful toys you love now will be sold to finance some new trend in a few years.
5-I really only responded to this thread at all to make audio laugh this morning, and I did, so I'm gonna stop looking at it now.

What a great impression we must be making on the OP of this thread.
He comes in. Posts some crap toys that don't belong here and gets some flack for it.
He then tries to make it right and does a pretty good job explaining himself and not taking it too hard.
Thread continues too long, fueled by noobie posts and related annoyance.
Then quickly devolves into bickering, insults and infighting. Insults being hurled even at the creators of this very board, that we all use to sell our unwanteds, gain knowledge and share our toys.

This is reminding me more and more of that other board and all the bullshit that used to and probably still does go on over there. I even see some familiar names.

This thread is still missing food. Snowballs! So while we were in FL a couple of weeks ago, I asked a local girl who was hanging out near the Laundromat by S7 if there was any place to get a snow-cone, she had the most baffled look on her face as she genuinely seemed to not know what the hell I was talking about. PBR ended up being a very suitable substitute.

Spearmint with Condensed Milk will definitely be purchased sometime tomorrow!
