I got it holler at me if you want the link. Not my review. 2006 Slayer [Christ Illusion] August 8, 2006 Citat: Those of us impatiently waiting, nail-festooned gauntlets at the ready, for Slayer to make another Reign in Blood will have to wait a little longer. Christ Illusion, due August 8th, mines much of the same territory as its predecessor, God Hates Us All, just without the memorable riffs. It’s become downright painful to hear Tom Araya — at 45 years old! — continue to belt out the band’s increasingly self-parodying, anti-religious lyrics, like “Religion’s a whore” and “I’ve made my choice: six six six!” The album art (displayed above for your pleasure) takes it all over the top with an image axeman Kerry King dubs “Christ in a Sea of Despair.” At least their awesome drummer Dave Lombardo (playing on his first Slayer recording since 1990’s Seasons in the Abyss) shows off some chops, particularly on the raging “Supremist.” Honestly, save yourself for their live shows, where they’re pretty much untouchable. With or without that “Wall of Blood.”
Well I haven't heard it yet, but the review does not sound good. I was hoping that with Dave back they would crank out RIB Mk. 2. Oh well. The fact is though, I know I'll like it and that it will grow on me over time. I have been initially disappointed with every Slayer record after RIB, and then grow to love most of them over time. And the one or two I don't love, I still like at least half the tracks. Slayer rules.
Slayer is the best but i think they outdid themselves w/Seasons and have been held to that standard ever since.....
every album has a few good tunes but some can be cheese or played out. i haven't heard it yet but i'm sure there is something on the cd i'll dig. you have to admire their staying power and accept that there will never be a RIB part 2.
