Mind you, your response doesn't mean anything other then trying to seperate someone from your wanna be elitist "eastern" community. Brohan , get over yourself. I've been to Asia on business and for pleasure more times then you've bought "LIMITED EDITION EASTERN" toys that you have no idea of the actual number run. Now that that is cleared up, my statement stands...... JAMBI wrote: haha, you act like its taboo to tell the buyer how many of something is being made, if they say theres 200, I'd be very willing to drop some hefty loot, but if they "rumor" to be 200 and in reality produce 2000, it's kinda shysty when WE ALL pay hefty change for it, and 3 months later there still around selling for much less when people realize, they just somehow ARENT selling out. It's supply and demand, not mislead and supply the demand. At least it shouldn't be, I work hard for my $$$$ not to throw it at the next hype toy, that no one knows how hard to get is. On another note, I think it's amazingly ignorent to actually think in this scene that you ONLY buy toys if you "like" them, NOT based on the hype set for them as well as the desire by your peers to aquire based on the number run of the item. It's a nice thought but if that was the case you wouldn't be on an "elitist" die hard collectors message board in the BxH thread, talkin about a particular toy from the other side of the GLOBE.
My wife is from Japan, been to Japan more times than I can count.... not trying to be elitist, just an observation of how you write your words and the ego that goes along with those words..... please calm down. Everything will be O.K.
Jambi most of us are clever enough to know what figures will be highly sought after without knowing the run size. You might not be ready to collect this stuff yet, there is not a lot of spoon feeding around here.
It's the same "egos" that are still missing the original question! Why when I ask what the actually number run is, in your brain triggers a response from the "NON EGO" elitists to jump down someones throat? I'm glad your wife is Asian, but that doesn't answer your assumption being related to me only collecting Western Vinyl. Stay on topic. There's no low blows aloud in this chess boxing bout. This is two pages of this now. None of you needed to respond unless to say "we don't know, but we like it anyway, we're diehard elitist fans" or "I know from Bob vinyl man that the actual run is of _______ number." Get over yourselves.
I am a long nosed hairy barbarian ghost. Medicom is really uptight about releasing prod numbers, and as they make the Kaws stuff...BXh and most if not all of the new J companies are the same. It's all part of the hype...and I for one am pretty sure that certain companies do this in order to release more amounts than 'is cool'. like u think theres only Xa mount, but then suddenly theres a bunch more...
That's exactly what I'm talking about Frank. Thank you for mentioning that. People frenzy to guerentee themselves something thinking they're part of the few who obtain it. Then they just keep comin, and comin, and some guy on the bay somehow is selling 40 of them months later for dirt cheap. It's like they weren't truthfull of the release number. I just like to figure out my own worth of an item in my head FOR ME based on the amount made, if these dummies wanna jump at an item for $350 JUST CUZ, then go ahead. I try to make wise decisions with my $$$$ If none of you collect based on number runs, then go collect g.i.joes from Kay-Bee , or better yet "Sailor Moon" thats pretty Eastern yeah?
I have thought the same thing. Certain figures seem hard to find and dry up. And then suddenly more appear. Cocky and Rumbles come to mind.
it was pretty flagrant with the wooden kaws 400% bearbrick. They tried to explain it as 'subsequent editions'. I myself have had some 'issues' with a certain J company over 'mysterious' amopunts of my toys suddenly appearing after the fact. What is ironic is that the companies everyone shits on like Kidrobot and Toy2r are 100% upfront about production numbers.
Hey Jambi-The whole you collect western thing has been a light hearted joke here until you decided to turn it into something else.the majority of people here collect everything including GI joes-lol-I have 3 full cases of that stuff-Maybe just roll w/it ..Too many newer people do this same thing and wind up making a war out of nothing..Just relax a bit bro..
I pretty much have collected everything except hip hoppy/fashion 12", and have done toys with just about, if not, every 'toy company' big or small and am always amused how ass backwards 'elitist' collector types information usually is. I mean it's usually 100% wrong. But, whenever I try to drop actual info..well..I am some sort of corporate whore or something because, apparentley, actually making toys etc is some sort of sell out. 'the only cool toys are ones that dont exist'. this phenomena was also common in the indie rock world..only lame bands that couldnt sell a record to save their lives where 'cool'. lol.
Jambi was using irony and sarcasm..another pair of concepts that a lot of collectors do not understand.
I'm a native NYer and those are both inherent in us, but like Dr Tongue says-that type of humor doesnt translate to print very well...
Well at least someone gets it. All I wanna know is the numbers to the Kun colorways, it was such a simple question, its rediculous. No witting remarks needed, no "burns" needed. Just a correct response so I know which I wanna get. Do your thing Frank, I know we're on the same page.
will knowing the run numbers really influence which one you want? The only way I ever use that as a factor is if I need all in a certain line so which takes priority over the others.
From the latest edition of S7 Dissected issue-If you havent seen this issue yet-PM me your addy-I have 2 and would be happy to send one to you..
see, there's a worthwhile response, although it doesnt have the 3rd version number. But thanx for takin time to shoot a pic and post.
