This is my pal Mr. Brian. He's an old school toy designer and knows his shit. He did a lil write up he did about his visit. Very cool to see a "former" toynerd get dropped into the deep end of toy radness http://mrbriandesign.blogspot.com/2010/ ... xhead.html
Looks like Mori's expanding himself so much more now. I'm totally excited to see how all of this works out.
I was going to say touche, but then I thought - when last I saw you, you were driving an Escalade around filled with famous Japanese toy designers - you visit japan every couple of months and hang with the creators of teh toys you collect - and you've told me many times about the access you have - so 99.9% of collectors are pretty average by comparison. Besides when I ask the question its for everyone who collects RxH here, otherwise I would have just PM'd you and kept it quiet. I've long since given up on trying to get most new RxH releases - but sometimes its just cool to know someone outside of Japan scored and the toy in question may come up in a sale or trade situation later. So, here's the question again: are these one offs or will they be released, or have they already been released? I understand if you wanna build the hype - but it would be nice to get a simple answer to a simple question (y'know, OG style; how it used to be when this board started and everyone helped everyone else out.... ) I dont think letting that information out will harm anyones chances of scoring - especially if they are shop only releases and long gone....but sure would be nice to know from the man with teh pics and knowledge.... over to you Jason PS. Howabout a pic of your RxH Collection sometime. I imagine it is awesome!
These have been part of a sort of "Summer Celebration" at Shinto Gangu - micro-releases - something new everyday. August is typically a very very slow time here in Japan biz wise. Mori hopes to get more releases like these out to his fans in the states as well. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=36637
The metallic lime green Armored Chaos in this pic is the most gorgeous RxH toy I have seen in a long time!!!! And that is saying a lot cuz there have been some real nice ones lately. But I'd kill for this one.
Full disclosure: I've only been properly collecting RxH for a little over a year. I live in Japan. About 60 minutes from Aoto. My days off are weird, so the only day I can visit is on Sunday. Typically, I have no clue what Mori will have in his store until I arrive. I'll check twitter often if I'm nearby and debating if I should swing by, but normally, if Mori released something a few days earlier, by the time I arrive, it's gone. And I kind of like it. It sucks to miss a release that I really want. Especially when I miss it by an hour. But the feeling when I happen upon something amazing is great. Recently, I walked in looking for the black/multicolor metallic evil and organ bat, but they were all sold to distributors before I arrived. Saddened, I grabbed a couple of smaller releases, until I saw an extra cupcake head hanging around in the back. I don't have time to run to Mori's after work everyday. Although I would like to. There are times when everything's sold out, and I wasted a trip. There are times when I just barely arrive to snag what I was hoping for. But I enjoy it. Hanging out at Shinto Gangu eating ice cream, hoping that I'll get lucky next time, is fine with me. I obsessively collect most other companies, but I don't have the time or money to do so with RxH. And I like it that way.
Carl, as described these aren't one-offs But, allow me to reply First of all, it was a Suburban, and it wasn't really filled, and we could have fit a few more people in there... Second, work sends me overseas everywhere, so Japan is one of the stops. Third, I don't recall "bragging" about said access, but I am quite sure you could never be wrong about something like that. Fourth, you are just still just sour that I trumped your surprise in stashing Mark (LD) at your place. Glad you are still a man of the people asking those hard hitting questions that are on every collector's minds, indeed inquring minds want to know...you could be a reporter for that Kaju Chronicle thing...which needs updating. New RxH releases have been available through the usual fences, and you likely gave up when paint sprays took a holiday for other finishes. There in lies the rub, eh? Honestly, I wasn't evading the question of one-offs, I was just distracted by you using the world "vault"! Again, these have been store releases, many of which had been posted up on Twitter. He is releasing a bunch this month, and I happen to be here. Timing is everything eh? In terms of building hype, that is for people who apparently `got paranoia'. Also, I don't believe in harming anyone's chances of scoring, if I know the answer, I will always answer candidly. Sure, sometime soon
Not animated, sorry: PS. Hey, I'm only joking - I call anyones collection a vault when I've never seen pictures of it and I am pretty sure is deep. I'm just nosey I guess. Everyone who comes to LA sees my collection and I post pics like the one you borrowed above. So now you've seen mine, can I see yours? PPS. Nope, never stopped collecting RxH. I have a lot of figures not displayed due to space constraints though. In fact according to some I am the only person outside of Japan who was collecting in 2005 and who is still collecting it. Sad, but maybe true? PPPS. Of course you bragged. I don't blame you - anyone who goes to the lengths you go to deserves to have bragging rights. I am absolutely sure you hvae some crazy amazing never before seen pieces that would have me, and any other RxH fan drooling. You are my RxH collecting idol: I love you Dr Zaius! Oh Dr Zaius!
Sneak attack Evil on Lulu today, awesome looking too. I love the metallic blues hitting lately. Cream vinyl sounds pretty good looking too. EDIT: Last night not today. I just woke up.
I may have the smallest RxH collection here, but I'm really starting to appreciate the figures and feel the need to get many, many more!
As you're probably witnessing as your collection grows, the more RxH figures you have, the better they start to look. You really see the consistent Mori-ness in the line. Even the less popular figures have lots to offer. I don't have a huge RxH collection either but am glad to have some of the earlier earthier figures. The paints may not be as spectacular as some of the more recent figures but I like that oldskool handmade look. It's looking like RxH is in it for the long haul. Let's hope so.
Couldn't be more true! That clear Chaos is probably my favorite version next to the unpainted yellow. Love it!
