If this lady is not getting the RxHs from LLB, then i must say she or someone she knows is a super well connected insider in Japan. The recent rxh stuff sold at the shop are only offered to super regulars or folks that Mori choose to sell too. I guess this method somehow work which maybe explain rather few new RxHs especially the secret releases are on YJA these days compared to the peak a year or two back. Those that do make it on YJA are usually from shows where they are sold FCFS to those in the line. joshuahauffman, i think you can take heart that reselling actions have somewhat fell from the peak over the last year or so for japanese toys in general including RxH due to a combination of factors. Economy, shrinking collector pool, maturing collector, collector fatigue, too many cool stuff etc. this is a great time to be a collector now.
Who cares about this seller; people are greedy and will take advantage when they can. There is no way to stop greed so don't waste your energy getting crazy. Anyone who has been around more than 6 months should know better than to pay these prices, especially with RxH. The price will come down over time. If you need a villain look at the buyer. When a informed person pays too much they are usually driven by ego or laziness; I know from experience. Collectors should spend what they want to acquire the toys that make this hobby fun (for them). They should do this without guilt or condemnation from other collectors. My hope is these collectors will engage the toy community and enjoy the social aspects of collecting too. When collectors embrace the toy community they realize the negative effects throwing money around has on other collectors, especially those lacking the means to keep up. In my experience this realization helps to temper the urge to splurge. I guess what I am saying is ignore the sellers and embrace the buyers if you want to deter this behavior. The more friends you have the easier it will be to find the toys you want even if you are lazy. When you identify yourself as part of a community your ego is less likely to cause you to act stupid in front of that community. The reality is there will always be a new person to bring into the fold so this kind of thing will never stop. Enjoy your toys and treasure your friends because nobody can outbid you for friendship.
I think the reason people want to know who the seller is, if they're a board member, is so 1- we don't sell stuff to them inadvertently via BST and 2- So we don't BUY from them via BST even if they offer fair prices there. I had this set, got it, wasn't blown away like I thought I'd be, passed it on at cost to someone I know who wanted it after a few friends said they couldn't or worked it out. I've had the same happen to me with friends and stuff I wanted. I wish I didn't live in the asscrack of the US so I could actually meet and thank a lot of folks in person, but they have my gratitude anyway. It's about WAY more then toys here.
In my opinion the RxH flipping is WAY down. Last year, minis would sell out in < 2 minutes then be up on the bay for 2x retail in a day. You still see the occasional new release getting flipped, but nothing like the markup from a year ago. Right now is a great time to be a RxH collector, 12 months ago...not so much. Like has been said ad nauseam on the site, and as Pogue just reiterated , flipping happens because people still pay for it. If there was nobody buying it, they wouldnt sell it. Outting the seller isnt going to help that at all.
This should be a motivational poster hahaha! Seriously, we've preached it to death, nothing else anyone can do. The buyer would just complain "well I really wanted it and knew I would never get another chance blah blah blah" which is crazy to think. The "I'll never have another shot" thought is nuts, Jesus, let it go! Nothing, NOTHING, is sacred, you'll find it, be patient and have fun. I think it was Joe Bunny or Alex/bannedindc who said they don't consider anything to be a "grail" because that gives you an excuse to pay stupid money or do stupid things for it. It really changed the way I thought about "grails" too, great quote if I could find it.
this board really has gotten soft. I remember when I first joined I was scared to death of the thought of flipping something. This place used to be a huge deterrent, it might not have stopped someone completely but it made them think twice about the hell to be payed. Now people just say oh well we can't do anything just don't buy off the flipper which is never going to work because there's always someone willing to. Many of SB's members are involved with stores which can be the ultimate price to pay. Why not cut these bastards off at the source? It might not stop them 100% but I guarantee the harder it is for them the more they will consider other means of money making. Either that or maybe I've been the fool and should just start buying shit to flip myself.
Those are all great. Will ea. be sold individually? Would be awesome to catch the entire set, but at an affordable price... that's just wishful thinking. EDIT: I'm slow... just saw the link to the other thread. Thanks for the info!
We were not asked to take place in this. Although I wish I could have because I would have pushed for a version of the tattoo I have of a rxh lucky cat. Any of the rxh dealers on here, please get in touch as I would very much like one of each of these. you know who you are.
