@nicholasfung That unpainted GID Pheyaos Man is a stunner! I don't know if I've seen that one before...
I just love any RxH collaboration that involves clothing/stitched masks etc. For this we have Mori’s collaborator Bokuto Embroidery to thank :
So at the risk of showing my ass here a little bit, how the Hell does one buy a toy from his shop in Japan? I've heard it is a lotto every Sunday, but I don't know if that is true or any other detail beyond that. In talking with other collectors this I'm surprised at how difficult this info has been to find, so why not ask
I posted someplace a little while back about how he used to tweet his timings, but that no longer seems to be the case. Curious how shit works these days too!
Believe it's by invite only, over Twitter. No clue whether Mori uses DMs and sends the time that way, or if it's just something you should know by the time you can go. I do know people who have sent him DMs asking to come and he accepts based on some of the usual fuzzy criteria, but mostly based on whether he has enough toys.
That's crazy. Who has the time for that? (A: The people that are able to flip the toys for 10x retail.)
I mean, a DM ain't exactly running a marathon But yeah, curious as to what gives you the thumbs up and what earns you the thumbs down
True. I plan to go to Japan next year with some friends and hitting up Mori's shop is definitely on my to-do list. I'll be pinging him well ahead of time to see if I can go there when he has a sale I guess at this point it's the best way for him to manage his customer base and avoid flipping. Of course, that idea is a bit misguided because an IG photo doesn't prove dick about someone's intentions
It may reduce flipping, but all it means is that the few pieces that do make it onto the aftermarket are hitting 10 x retail, rather than the traditional ‘double-yer-money’ flip of yesteryear. I’d rather retain my private F&F account than open it up just for the chance to buy toys. If artists and manufacturers want to get THAT obsessive about who they sell to, I’ll ‘shop’ elsewhere.
I didn’t imagine everyone DMs Mori nowadays. That’s dedication if he responds to say what 60+ people each time? His twitter is rampant with dirty jokes so hey it’s probably the case.
The process of collecting rxh has, to me, been the most fascinating to watch over the last ten years. I've never seen a company be the shit then...slowly...drop off the radar with the classics, fail with the first adult figures and now be completely unattainable. Kudos to Mori. From what I've heard...sales are always on Sunday. Follow Mori on twitter and there is a lotto. Not sure if that's changed.
With this being posted, I wanted to share all the new and upcoming Skeletons he's been making. I think ドクロマニヨン is a contender to be the next Chaosman at the rate he's churning them out. Collabs include Cord Viper, Goccodo and soon to have an Atom A Itchiness.
Does that mean he will show at Dcon at all this year since its right before the event? Idk, its wishful thinking I guess. I really enjoyed just talking with him about his toys.
I'm so glad they are doing it again, the santa cruz show was one of my favorite shows I've been too. heres there set up from the santa cruz pop-up View this post on Instagram
Leanna Lins is a cute little shop. She does a great job running things and there is lots of good food within walking distance. I'm not sure if she is prepared for the chaos. Looks like people will need to come a few days early for Dcon.
