Okay, so this probably a stupid question, but...what's in each egg is a surprise, correct? Someone please clarify for me.

there were bullmark eggs back in the day, not sure on what sizes though, i think only a mid-size maybe?

on these new m1 eggs, the mid-size toho figure is known, the mini tsuburaya figure is random.

OK I'm now convinced that M1 collectors don't fall for hype, actually go to shows to buy and keep their figures, and aren't on the next hyped toy by selling them off ever.... How else do you explain a beams/M1 6/6 event and not one has shown up for sale anywhere? Much to my chagrin:

I want this soooooo bad. Been waiting for M1 to do a GID of Gabara forever! Come on flippers, Someone has to have one for sale? 50 isn't that small a number or is it (see above). Added to my want list. Help a brother out.

More pics, I mean the 75 mecha was limited to 100 but even that hasn't made it to the usual places:

It is a beauty! I think the fact that there are so many common M1go figures (even if most are still amazing) can make us forget how hard it is to track down some of their very limited releases. Even some of the edition of 100 M1s I have only seen a time or two in the places one would expect (Rainbow tailed Ritora took me years), while I'll much more frequently come across same size editions by Marmit, Marusan, etc. But then who knows how many rare M1s are sitting with heavy price tags on shelves in toy shops in Japan.

Anyway, should I have to sell off my collection some day, I imagine M1 would be the last line to go, and I'll bet a lot of collectors who are more kaiju purists than into neo sofubi feel similarly.

I had a heck of a time tracking down the last glow Angilas I needed (rainbow back- 50 made) till last week. You're right some of the more limited versions don't show up that often, but strangely when they do the price can really vary. I won that Angilas on YJA for 60 clams and I did notice a lotto chibull go for only around 95, where as over a year ago I over-paid for my chibull. Well there is always hope it will show up months later..

I'm glad you finally found that rainbow Angilas, now I don't have to worry about you being competition as I look for mine! You are right about the price varying too, there was a rainbow Gamera that ended a few weeks ago for less than 5,000 yen. I think the GID ringtoss Chibull owners got screwed a little by that newer clear version with tinsel and essentially the same paint scheme.

Shit, those are awesome. I'm pretty happy with my painted LuckyBag MG from last year tho, so I won't be your competition any time soon either
I do agree that it's funny how M1 collecting works... for me, the 'definitive' sofu Goji is the Terror of Mechagodzilla sculpt, and the grey vinyl with green sprays version is the best, but was a show exclusive. On the same day, I saw one on YJA with a Buyout price of like, a GRAND US, and another one for 3600Y Buyout, which I immediately jumped on. It's hard to tell which figures are a problem, but for the most part M1 collecting is so... zen.

Likewise I don't have to worry about competition (well actually I probably do with a lot of others!) on the m1 gid ringtoss/lotto rainbow gezora from you. I saw that rainbow backed gamera go for a ridiculously low bid. You never see that guy come up to often. Well at least the lotto chibull owners have GID on their side ;)

LOL. I knew you would! Isn't the mecha the same paint scheme as the recently released Box set MG2?

    Amen.

Yeah, the open market prices on M1 figures is always up and down. Ya just have to get used to it and be patient. I've paid top dollar for some pieces when they first came out, but then saw them blow out a year later...but then become super-rare/pricey another year later!

Ha! That MFV-colored medium-sized MekaG is sweet! Might have to track that down, as I don't own a medium sized MG.

Yeah, that Gamera went cheap. I'm kicking myself for not putting a bid on it, completely forgot. I'm a new M1 fan with a few pieces, but hopefully will have more soon. I'm hoping to add a Chibull or two soon. I think all the Rose Vampire/ Nag talk kind of pushed towards M1. I'm really happy with the few M1's I have and am scouring YJA all the time now. Are there any good books with a lot of M1 pics?

Thanks everyone (and Josh for getting these at s7) for the pm's, will be placing my pre order in tomorrow (payday). Very awesome as I pretty much had resigned myself to after market prices (if one even became available!).

As far as good book with lots of M1 pics. Get yourself a copy of the Neo Kaiju book that came out last year. If you like M1, Marmit etc etc. It's a must. It has mainly Ultra/ Ultra Monster figures though. No Toho.

It would seem that if none show up they must be going to people who will keep them, with M1 that is probably true. Also is that Beams probably still has stock and regular release figures don't really get bought up to be flipped, the lottery figures sure as
they are usually in pretty small numbers. There are still alot if the older Beams M1 figures at the shop. Including all the Matangos. 100 or even 50 is a high number in the market today for Toho and Tsuburaya old Bullmark style figures. I didn't make it to the release last Sunday but I will try to get over there next weekend and have a look. Working everyday sucks. :(

but I did think the Gabara would sell out, GID is always good!

It's funny...when I first started really focusing on JJ figures I wasn't a big fan of the M1 line, probably because one of the only representations at the time was the nude unpainted. Since then, though, I've come to love the M1s far above all the others.

The painful part is that the JJ figures tend to be the show lottery specials and are very hard to track down.

Speaking of the new GID Gabara, does anyone know the story behind the color scheme? I have two other M1 figures painted the same way (Bright Green, Yellow) , both on GID vinyl. Dancing Goji and a Gezora. Is it from somewhere or just a M1 paint scheme?

Heh...never did like that Bullmark sculpt of the "prototype" Mogera. I mean, great toy, but it just doesn't reflect the final suit design from the movie...which I absolutely adore. That Varan, though, is fucking KILLING me! I hope it's popular and warrants a glow version eventually...
