I'll be that guy. Why the fuck is the light blue and not green? Maybe it's my monitor. Or maybe it's not. It's like WTF! This thing is a piece of crap. No one should buy it at all. And what's the pickup truck hauling in its bed? Is that a fucking giant brown turtle? Or maybe a big piece of turd.
Very tough decision, i think the yellow version lends itself to the sculpt better than the others. At the same time its hard to pass up the more striking colours.
I think the red's the best. This is the best standard figure Elegab's done yet IMO. I'll pass but hope to go in for a different version in the future.
Utterly amazing choice of colors. Very faithfull to Nari San's drawings. Very difficult to choose, I like the red one a lot too, and the black which has more "realistic" colors. The yellow spray version is very close to Kurumanikurasu and I dig it a lot. Looks like there's some gold spray here and there too. If I could afford, I would try to get the complete set !
Went back and forth between the black and blue all day at work, finally decided on blue. Though black is cool too...
no , but still have to love elegab for these crazy figures!!! while so many other companies seem to be hunting latest trends, trying to drop toy of the month. elegab just does what they like, keeping things fresh & original.
Nope. I hate to say it, but as much as I absolutely love the original drawing, I'm just not feeling the sculpt's execution. It's not so much that it's become more or less abstract...just...sloppy (compared to the drawing). Eh well...if he pumps out a glowie of it with a cool spray, I may consider it...
The drawing WASN'T sloppy? Here's what Elegab/Nari does that I love: Makes TOYS with NO pretentions. There's no agenda ("art"/fashion) or need to have his figures represent HIM but rather true, real, fun-as-hell-toys. Toys. Not something where you'd go "oh this is so and so's work" but the first thing you'd say is "holy crap that toy is nuts!" You'd recognize it as a TOY and an awesome one before you'd start connecting style and crap like that to it. True toys. Dude's a madman in the best way. Someone hookup LED's to the stop lights and really blow some minds now, I'm too lazy.
If your tastes tend to Machinders, with the clean lines and "engineered" look, I can see how Tonneran would look sloppy. It's about as messy as it gets. It's just that for other tastes, that's the beauty of it. When a street and tunnel comes to life and takes the cars along, it's gonna be messy! I think Nari also uses his drawings more as inspiration for the sculpt, rather than as a schematic. If you look back at the original drawing for Puppet Seijin, there are several differences with the final sculpt.
