Yep these were a very nice surprise to see indeed. Especially that Zarab reissue. I have so long dreamed of the nice and brightly coloured yellow or pink versions, but let's face it, for a modest person like me those have become just a dream. So I welcome this new deep orange contender. Heck any new Zarab toy is going to get a strong thumbs up from me, but from Ohashi-san, of course such a pleasure. So I say bring on the earth tones! (anything that gets more toys out to the people who really love them)
Looks like we may be treated to a Shin Ultraman tribute, as well. That is pretty darn exciting, of course for the Ultraman connection, but I also have very high hopes for this film, I am a big fan of Anno's work, and personally - though I know it is a controversial opinion among more western audiences/traditional Goji enthusiasts - I think Shin Godzilla is a criminally underrated film and an incredible entry in the franchise. Still not sure how Anno is going to handle/modify the colour timer (and associated effects) in this iteration, but I am putting my faith he is going to come out with something interesting.
I was really hoping for a new sculpt from this batch, especially given the subject matter, but he is still super lovely in that pale blue. [hearts all over]
Does anyone have photo archives of the paperwork sculptures from several years ago? And the context? Meaning when and why they were created? I believe they were produced in conjunction with a Gargamel show if memory serves...
Here you go: http://blog.livedoor.jp/gargamel/archives/51118222.html Still kicking myself 12 years later for not buying something from the show. Really wanted the pocket smogun or the crawling hedo with the pig mobile.
Goodness Paul! You actually had the chance to buy them?! Sheesh that must hurt! At least you got to see the exhibit
Hi Grace! I wasn't able to see the show in person, but Gargamel had the pieces for sale online on that page on their blog. I can't tell you how many times I looked at that page at the time, trying to decide if I should scrape together the funds to make a purchase; but I can tell you in retrospect that I made the wrong decision. Sigh.
@paulk Thank you! I was in a similar situation, trying to decide how to pull the trigger (which I didn't sadly) SC-07 Pocket Smogun custom figure ¥ 12,000 (tax in) SO-15 Paper craft with Zagoran and S-taiin + Hollis custom figure ¥ 78,000 (tax in) SO-16 Paper craft with Mini Smogun custom figure ¥ 39,000 (tax in)
I wish there were better pictures of the Steven, looks like an absolute gem. This whole show was amazing.
Originally posted on Mr. Ohashisan's blog 6/23/22. Looks like a Pachycephalosarus reissue in a lucky bag? Been after this dino for ages! Perhaps 3 more figures as well? Can anyone interpret what he means when he says: "We will sell it only to those who bring the above <Fukuro> or <Monster that assembled the Fukuro>.” and "cannot accept bags other than the above.” Not sure if I understand what he is requiring of his customers before he will sell to you. Does he want people to bring a random Pachycephalosarus toy? And what is the bag requirement? Exhibited at the event for the first time in two and a half years since the sale of the bag Exhibition of products to be sold in the future and some sales Due to recent circumstances We will sell it only to those who bring the above <Fukuro> or <Monster that assembled the Fukuro>. I plan to sell it naked. If you are worried about rubbing, I think you should prepare a zip lock etc. If the product you brought remains on the table, take it home. (Future sales in that case are undecided.) * We cannot accept bags other than the above. * You do not need to report that you have forgotten to come to the venue and lost it. Thanking you in advance. [Request when a line occurs] Customers should confirm that they have a bag If people who do not have a bag are in line It would be helpful if you could say "I can't buy it without a bag". "Isn't there something to sell?" Even if you point at it, it won't sell. I will refrain from talking, so please cooperate. * A camera may be installed for crime prevention. please note that. UPDATE (6/24/22) Photo from Mr. Ohashisan's Butanohana Blog post dated 6/25/22) The new butas sold at the show (listed on the Buta Blog). Lucky Bag #1 (when assembled, it forms the Kemular monster) or the assembled critter, must be presented at the show or Mr. O won't sell you the new buta!
I interpret this as the figure itself it only going to be available to those who already have the 'soft' version above, either still in the bag form, or cut and assembled. I am not sure where/when this particular one was released, but there have been previous versions of these Buta do-it-yourself soft toy kits. Basically no one coming without a bag, for whatever reason/excuse, will be able to buy the new figure. Those disclaimers are very blunt and signs of the obvious frustration Ohashi-san has to deal with (clearly) on a regular basis, which just makes me sad and a bit angry and frustrated for him and all of the Butanohana staff.
Jeepers creepers! Well that's going to take a mad scramble. Not that I'll be able to attend the show, mind you, but it does seem harsh to require this, especially if you didn't know about it ahead of time. Bringing a bag is easy. I can't imagine anyone walking away in a huff and refusing to buy, if a bag is not provided! Thank you Stevie!
Just to clarify, the 'fukuro' ふくろ is the soft pouch shown in the pic, I believe. These were evidently available ~2.5 years ago, but now acting as a 'ticket' to buy the pachy dino. Separate from this, the figures will be sold loose, and can be placed inside the bag (unless it has been cut and assembled), but that onus - e.g. to bring a ziplock or something else to carry and protect the toy inside - is purely on the buyer. No pouch, no sale.
On that one, I am not too sure, Grace. Someone else feel free to correct me, but I think it is suggesting you have to have that specific bag. I am trawling through the old releases to see if I can dig this one out, but for example he has done similar ones with the Gargamel and pop groups also:
I think the one he shared above is actually the one that is used to make the Kemular soft toy. I remember we talked about it, Grace, but I am still not certain when it actually came out, as I missed it at that time (well, still, too, but that is probably obvious....)
Here is another photo. And it looks like you have this one, too, Grace, based on the following 'share' post you did (where he is getting delightfully pampered and cleaned by your hoover crew): http://skullbrain.org/bb/index.php?threads/sho-yo-butas-for-lixx.31124/page-86#post-983975 (but yeah, alas, we cannot attend in person of course) Consider me jealous in any case, I would love to assemble this delightful psychedelic muncher! I would estimate not too many will be on hand who necessarily have these Kemular pouches still, so I wonder what the number on the dinos is?
I couldnt bring myself to cut up the bag so i framed it. I'm actually gonna reframe it nicer. I'll post when I do.
A couple more pics of the lucky bag (and its contents) from different angles, now that I've dug them out. I really love what Yoda did here with the Buta logo, making it a sort of manufacturers hang tag as soft plushies have:
