This is only sorta new, but, damn, until I got them all together over the holidays it hadn't really hit me how much Marusan upped their Jet Jaguar game over the last 3 years. Prior to 2019, Marusan only had 4 small JJ figs from 2006. Now there are thirteen 450 Series figs, 9 official small figs, and god knows how many Marugacha JJs--I've got 51 unique ones and I know I've missed at least a few. I'm crazy looking forward to their drops for this year's G vs Megalon 50th...but my wallet is crazy terrified
Might as well state the obvious. Those groups alone are an incredible collection. Fantastic shots @jetJagger !
I Just noticed the Bullmark site is back up! Only one toy for sale (and it’s been out for awhile) but that’s something. While the layout seems to be the same as before, the pictures are larger and look to be a little more resolution than the old site.
Thanks for the heads-up, @Temporal Marauder! I'd deleted the bookmark... Welcome return, but definitely weird...
Kaminaga-san is going to be doing a couple of panels at the US shows. What questions do folks here have for him?
1. What company or individual currently has ownership of the original Marusan master molds for characters such as Ultra Q kaiju and Godzilla? 2. Were the original balloon blower/surprised kaiju released by Marusan or a different company as the SAN engraving seems to be scratched out on the vintage toys? edit: listed as Maruzan 1967 in Yuji Nishimura's Godzilla Toy Museum book. 3. Many vintage Marusan kaiju toys feature a paint style of silver spray underneath matte color sprays including the first Godzilla. This is a very unique painting style. Was there a specific artist or toy creator at Marusan that was responsible for this creation?
If Namegon was only produced by Marusan, why does it continue to appear in many subsequent Bullmark catalogs?
Any plans to bring back more of the Marusan original sculpts? For example, will we ever see the figures that were reissued in the 90s brought back in new colors?
I'm going to share specifics when I can, but right now I am aware of over 20 different 450 Series sculpts in small quantities (largest quantities for King Joe, Mecha Giant Gorilla, and King Godras), four 350 series sculpts in larger quantities (largest quantities for Baron and BONDORAA), small gashapon, and large gashapon.
Not MechaniKong. MGG is an original Marusan design. https://shingangu.com/2018/08/03/marusans-test-shot-blank-mecha-giant-gorilla/
Here is what we are going to have. Before you read this list: Please don't ask me to buy these for you or hold them for you. If there are any toys left over after the show, they will be sold through Monster Patrol. None of these items are going to be available at G-Fest, either, there will be a completely different set of figures available there. I do not know what they will be. I have not seen any of these figures myself so I don't know exactly what sculpts or colors are being used aside from the text descriptions below.
