MVH toys thread

such a killer show and so cool seeing some peeps getting their first dx or their first one off. its stuff you never forget if youre gonna be in the hobby for a while. @Rich signed some stuff and painted some eyes and seeing these folks' reaction was genuinely wholesome.

i didnt catch any fuckery but maybe theyre gettin sneakier. all in all id say it was smooth sailin, almost everyone left happy. i made my choice super fast because i knew no matter what, wether i walked away with a one-off a micro run or a blank... that itd be top notch quality.

 

He used one of those one paint markers and it was like 5 minutes. Dude was stoked to have it!!

 

maybe two hours total. but thats why it was 870usd +tax

 

I spotted you right before my wife and I left. There were a handful of people I didn’t even know were there until I saw picture later. HI!!!

 

I walked around New Haven for a couple hours this afternoon.

What a weekend. Doctor said I need a backiotomy after this past week. Such good times with so many good people. Thanks to those who snap group photos and those of the toys and shit. I looked at my phone... took maybe 25 pics over the last 6 days... when you consider Hyperstoic and BS4 the 2 events we attended during those days, and all the hangs with friends... that's really nothing.

 

You need one of those memory foam kitchen mats between @Rich 's kiosk and table! Or at the very least a gift card to a foot massage parlor if they have those in New Haven (edit: they don't )

 

^ Agreed, a mat would be amazing... i was either barefoot or in Jerry's shoes just so i could have different pressure points i was hitting lol

 

How many ugly customs are there gonna be of the Aitsu DX?

 

i had a whole conversation about how besides rich painted eyes, i hope theyre left untouched hahah

 

I was joking* with @eckotyper if Tan gets his hands on one he'll paint a Hitler Aitsu

I wish I stuck around later to get @Rich to paint my blank!

I don’t understand the pricing for this new Sam head release. $175 for an unpainted head? Marbled is nice but not worth that much to me as opposed to a painted version, especially if only the head. On the other hand, $400 for the Executioner I totally get

 

Ten news highlights for me from the recent AMA on IG:

1. MVH Fink and Feral Children coming 2020
2. Possible MVH Art book news at Five Points 2020 (please big and hardcover!)
3. Future Aitsu DX Online release, but not any time soon
4. More trolls after the new year (Zug, Plagueface)
5. Possibility of SIX shows next year, 3 at DV and 2-3 Abroad
6. No news for new Kougai due to problems with Obitsu
7. Upcoming destinations in Asia include Thailand, HK, and Japan
8. No six eyes anytime soon
9. Original art possibly next year (consider some screenprints as well!)
10. Vinyl is in hand for new berserker and possibility of wasteland warrior v2 battle set with toxigon

Of which the biggest news for me is the possibility of SIX shows in 2020, and a chance at a Berserker, my top MVH figure!

 

I would think he is trying to cover costs for plenty of other works he has going on. Plus his wife just had a baby.

 

Marbled pours like this are double what a Opaque pull is. I'd assume that comes into factor. Yeah it does seem a little pricey... but a few factors i can see coming into the price. now mind you this is just my take on things.
* It's a Sam, yes just a head, but a sam none the less. Let's not even act like at least a handful of these are going to be flipped. I am all for the artist bumping price a little as opposed to lining the pockets of a flipper/trade flipper/ someone who acts like they are your biggest fan, yet using you as a cash cow. Maybe that higher price turns some away... or in the very least, cuts their profits down.

I'm sure there's more we could discuss might be happening with the funds, but in the end I mean it's the price. I will put a pair of jeans back on the shelf if i'm not comfortable with the pricetag. should be the same with sofubi. Some artists have trouble selling their standard figure for $60... Others can bump prices due to demand,production issues, etc etc.

Hey guys I posted all this on IG but wanted to share here also.

I’ve been working on my own line of fight figures for a year now and I’m finally able to roll them out.

First release will be at DCON and will be a marble mix of green and yellow to represent to competition belt colors.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu fighters stand around 3.5 inches tall, and consist of a head, upper body lower body. They all will come in a gloss box package which will include a sticker sheet of all patch designs so you can can design your toy as you wish.

I want to keep these as much of a toy toy and less art toy so it’s gonna be package and sticker design that’s the weight. I do have spray masks so there will be painted runs also. Prices I’m looking to do blanks at $45 / marble $55 / painted $65
