Yeah, its was quite unusual at the time. Another similar 'action' style one I remember was 'Chutes Away'. A game with an airplane suspended over a rotating disk which had a landscape printed on it. You had to look through a viewfinder and drop little men into plastic cups embedded in the landscape, as they rotated past your eye line. I think it was a bombing game originally, but the makers changed it to parachute themed.
Tomy Mighty Men & Monster Maker My life was changed the day I went over to my grandmother's house and saw my uncle creating an amazing monster with this kit. He was like, "watch this" and flipped over one of the plates and started shading in texture on the monster skin from the back side on one of the plates. So many hours of creating monsters and heroes from this kit. I heard it was based on a Barbie fashion kit, but whoever came up with the idea to spin off a hero/monster maker is a genius. This was one of the top art and monster toys of my childhood.
Oh man, I had that too! It was so cool how you could make different mashups. But the tracing never quite worked out for me, I'd always end up moving the paper and it would get blurred.
