I wonder if there is enough fans of these films out there that you could start a project (kickstarter??) for the fans to buy up the remake rights of these films before they get destroyed. I think that would be hilarious and amazing! If the ownership was then split between all contributors than they couldn't be easily bought back. If anyone wants to start this, just give me credit for the idea.
Ok, I'll join in the hate rant now that I see Spike Lee is going to do an american version of OldBoy. Did Spike ever make an interesting movie? maybe She's Got to Have it?
I like Spike Lee, but NOT for Old Boy. How on earth did he scored that gig is beyond me. Either is going to be amazing or incredibly horrible.
Most of his movies are interesting and many are underrated IMHO. He's had a hard time finding funding for projects for a long time, after bad distribution deals and worse box office returns took him off the "A" list. Things got better with the success of "Inside Man," his most "Hollywood" and maybe least interesting movie, but the critical and financial failure of "Miracle at St. Anna" gave investors the jitters all over again, so he's been open to taking on mainstream commercial projects again to keep working. It wouldn't surprise me if that's why he's doing "Oldboy," although he wouldn't do it if he didn't think he couldn't do it justice. We'll see.
I laughed when I saw this but at the same time I feel his pain. I still have the original untouched versions of Star Wars and will not likely upgrade to the new versions anytime soon. http://www.mydogatela.com/starwars.gif
Continuing this thread, for any Deadpool fans out there Don't bring up the Blu-ray if you value your life.
