Hey there- I'm currently running mac OS 9.2 on an Imac that was given to me. Could I upgrade to os 10.3 directly? The imac should be able to take it specs-wise, I just don't know if I would have to have an earlier version of os X already on the machine. Thanks for any advice.
hey Lapin, you should be able to upgrade directly, the only thing i would be concerned about is what would happen to all your data in 9.2. i think it'll be ok, but you should back it up just to be sure. anyway, i put 10.3 on a old blue and white G3 tower, which is around the later imacs spec-wise, and it runs fine for most purposes. good luck, let me know if you have any other questions.
This one is right up my ally- First of all you will need- • Built-in FireWire • At least 256MB of physical RAM (but really you are gonna want 512) And if you are planning on buying the disks at a store you will need to have a DVD drive on your iMac... You should be fine otherwise... I mean it is in no way going to be a speed demon, but it will do fine But 1 question, why 10.3, 10.4 is way better!
All those requirements are cool for my machine. Why 10.3? Dunno - maybe a little cheaper, maybe a bit easier for an older machine to handle. I would like to try and find a used copy that hasn't had the liscense transferred yet to keep the cost down.
well as I am an employee-- I am always down to trade Apple stuff for SB stuff! let me know what you are looking for!
