"These little wrestlers were taken from a Japanese comic book and cartoon, Kinnikuman (Muscle Man), which is about intergalactic wrestling. Originally they were produced by Bandai/Japan in the mid 80s. Mattel distributed them in the USA."

Muscle Men rule, I got all stoked when I saw that new Ultimate Muscle cartoon one day and I ran out to Toys R Us to grab some of the new toys, they aren't nearly as cool as the old ones though.

The Kinkotuman Skullbrain that came out with the red scarf was based on one of the Muscle's. I can't think of his English name now, but it is Kinkotuman.

I have a big tub of these guys from when I was a kid.

I had tons and tons of these guys...funny now looking back because at the time I had no clue about where the influences for the designs came from. Now I look back and it's like "Oh yeah..."

Anyway, did anyone else have that ring where you kind of pinched a MUSCLE guy in on each side and then moved them around trying to pop the other guy off? The trick was finding the right figure that couldn't be popped off...loved that thing...

I've got some cool Japanese painted muscle guys. Same molds as the old ones. They came with a mystery unpainted one in the pack.

I used to buy the old ones up at flea markets for cheap and custom paint them.

My brother and I had the MUSCLE wrestling ring. You are so right about the trick to knock the other one out. Man Maz, this brings back serious memories. You just lit another collecting fire!
