The Pseudomorphism show at Toy Art Gallery was amazing, and there is another amazing event happening this month in Los Angeles. If you are into zines, mini comics, independent artists and writers, then this is one event you do not want to miss out on. Last year was the first time for this event and it was an enormous success. This year they have moved it to a bigger venue and I am pretty sure that this will not be a let down either. I'll definitely be going. Anyone else? I always love LASK get togethers. There are also other related events leading up to the Zine Fest. Check their site here: http://lazinefest.com/
My cousin is going to be there! You can check out some of his artwork at the link below. http://dwrex.wordpress.com/2013/01/22/zine-fest-2013/
Zine Fest was fun. Especially seeing LASKers there, you know who you are. Sorry I couldn't stay to hang out longer Carl. Here is my small haul:
The fest has inspired my daughter to create her own zine. She's brainstorming ideas now. And for the record (directed at a fellow SB member) NO, I did not bring all those hipsters up with me from Long Beach. We've moved on down here. We're now into either full cowboy regalia or dolphin shorts, nehru jackets and sperry top siders... Mike, you and Heather now have a new line of vintage items to seek out
That's awesome John. Let me know when she is finished and starts publishing it. I'll definitely buy one. Thanks for the hipster vintage clothing tip.
I went home with a zine, a pug drawing and a pin. plus the memories was great to hang with Rick and see John n Mike. Also cool to meet John's luvverly missus and charming daughter. I also spotted a dude from work who produces a no-nonsense square bound zine of stuff. Thanks for the headsup Mike!
