If I was down that way would have meet up for sure but I live in the grim north in sunny Newcastle, you could have a look at http://www.magmabooks.com/ they are based in London and I have asked them a few times if any good exhibitions are on, if you where in the North then I could help more

    Enjoy your stay though

There's a list somewhere of places worth visiting, but I went to the Saachi gallery the other week and was suitably impressed.
I don't spend much time checking out art type stuff, so I'm not really the person to ask.
All/most museums are free here so a good wander through any of them is always worth while.
Check out www.londonist.com for stuff as well.

Oh, and when you get in, get an Oyster card!!! Seriously.
Stick £20 on it straight away. You make a MASSIVE savings with a topped up Oyster card. A normal bus trip is £2.20, but with an Oyster, it's £1.20, it adds up if you are travelling, especially on the tube.

Generally, if you get stuck, pop me a pm and I can sort you out, if nothing else, I'll certainly point you in the direction of the best boozers :D

    a wise man has spoken!!!

oyster pay-as-you-go is the only way forward...a normal £4.40 ticket-fare tube ride can cost £1.90 with oyster pay-as-you-go

or you can even try the public city hire "boris" bikes (for £1 a day if you make sure to dock it every half hour & then grab a new one)...although,,they look kinda clunky & you WILL get lost

**Warning - boring Londoncentric talk **
I heard that Boris is covering up loads of accidents caused by people who aren't regular cyclists hopping on his bikes and getting hit.
Which makes sense because all that you ever see on them are office workers who otherwise are unfamiliar with riding a bike in the city.

I was in London a couple of months ago, great city! Its helpful to know that with the Oyster card you can cash out anytime, whatever you don't spend on it they will give back to you before you leave. Two years in a row I hit the theater district and caught a play, last year it was Oliver! this year it was 'Blood Brothers', they were both amazing. The next time I am in town lets have a Skullbrain spot of tea. 8)

Hey! thanks a lot guys! when i got here my brother gave me a one week oyster pass so i got that covered! in Toronto and Montreal we have the same bike system, we call it Bixi, but they are the same bike with the same half hour docking deal, except we pay $5 a day. Might try that out if i dont get scared off by the crazy drivers here and the fact that i still have not gotten used to looking the opposite way for traffic.
Im gonna check out Londonist and see if i cant find anything. I see that James Jarvis is doing some in store thing tomorrow at an Amos shop? i got some email about it and thought that might be cool
