I'm doing some research on the Logitech Harmony line of remote controls. I have a bunch of components including a PS3 and each one with a differerent remote control. It's starting to be a pain in the ass to have to use 3 or 4 remotes to watch my home entertainment system. My buddy told me about his Logitech remote control...he loves it. I wanted to get some other opinions. Does anyone have this remote or have a different remote. The remote I'm looking at is about $200 so any information is appreciated.

Looks very similar to what my cousin's husband bought - he loves it. As a guest user it was very confusing and I felt like I'd screw everything up if I touched it - but I imagine that if you're the one setting it up that you'd learn how to use it while setting it up. He used it not just for the entire entertainment system, but also for all the lights. Seems like it'd definitely be slick once you know how to use it.

I've got a Logitech Harmony 880. It came out a couple years ago. I friggin' love it! I too had way too many remotes. Really simple to use too and you can program it whichever way you want. The remote links to your computer via USB. From there, it's drop-down boxes as to what components you own. I thought I was going to have one hell of a time setting it up but it's a piece a cake. I have my tv, stereor, DVD, cable box, and Wii set-up through it. All the old remotes are in a box.

My girlfriend's father has got one too, a newer model and he's got everything running through it, including the lights.

Oh, and another cool thing is that it comes with a rechargeable base so you never have to worry about batteries. Also, you can upload your own photos onto the menu screen and have a mini slideshow.

I've been looking at that remote as well. I saw that remote for $140 on a lightning deal at Amazon. But it was between getting that or 2 new toys and I ended up with the toys. NO regrets. I'm sure I'll get another chance someday.

i picked up my dented box 880 a few weeks ago for 100. i love it. its very easy to set up and really user friendly. hell i even taught my girl how to use the control in about 5 minutes. its great how you can set up activities so that it changes inputs and all that for you automatically.

the downside is that you need to buy an extra accessory for it to work with the ps3. the ps3 adapter thing is about 50-60 bucks.

id really recommend one of these remotes.

one more thing. my friend has the harmony one and the 880 and he actually prefers the 880 over the one. the harmony one has a nice touch screen but it can be a hassle if youre in the dark. its easier to remember where the physical buttons are so you dont have to rely on looking at the screen all the time.

I've been using a Harmony 550 for a couple of years. Thing that makes it invaluable is the input switching that I can assign to a button. It's just so much easier to click a button that says "XBOX" or "APPLE" to jump to input 6 or 8 rather than click a menu button, scroll down to the input menu and then scroll down to the 6th or 8th slot.

I got the Harmony One with the PS3 adapter on Amazon around black friday for a good price. They don't go on sale too often, but for $200 you could probably find the same.

I have it controlling my PS3, Cable Box, TV and Receiver and it is amazing. You can program your favorite stations in with icons and it looks really slick.
Sometimes runs in to synch issues, but just press Help and it usually figured it out.

    I'd highly recommend it

I've got the 880 as well. I'm pretty sure I would die without it at this point. It's awesome sauce.

Harmony One here with a bluetooth dongle for PS3 and am in total heaven. It's a great remote for my home theater setup.
