Dude, I need to get someone to work in the store so I can go! Is this the last weekend for this Pete?
The pics are of his house, I think, but the show seems to be at a gallery by the address. Regardless, if I was in the area I would so be there. I love Keane's work. (I'm also digging that giant Jeep in the first pic).
What time do you guys expect to be in OC? I want to see this and would be willing to meet you guys there.
man, i've been wondering about that... at this point is the only way i can see the movie since apparently all the screenings are on the west coast only... i dig that giant jeep too. also the anatomical kewpie on this pic:
Just called the gallery to confirm that admission is free!!! 10am breakfast at Astroburgers. OC by noon. (Hey Chris, Carl has your phone#, yes?) Here's a blurb from the press notes for the show: "A rare opportunity to be surrounded by a special selection of works from the collection of the incredibly pretentious and extremely undeserving Long Gone John before he finally gets the hell outta dodge to take up residence in the specific northwest and begins to upset the environment and countless thousands of unsuspecting citizens . . ." http://www.grandcentralartcenter.com/gcacImages/building/artist_village_map.pdf Directions: CSUF Grand Central Art Center 125 N. Hey Chris, we got there sometime after one - thanks to an accident on teh 5 freeway, which was kind of backed up as a result. Just got back in now after some stops on the way back including a visit to the Anti-Mall in nearby Costa Mesa, the Mark Ryden Exhibition on Beverly finally stopping off at Meltdown to see Rick's new Celga haul! Sorry dude! A small, but GREAT show - LOVED it! What did u think?
Took a TON of pics - but I need to get some shit deleted off photobucket before I can post them....also snagged (apparently) illegal pics at te Ryden show, before we got kicked out by teh uber snooty gallery owners....
Yer kidding? We took photo after photo, non-flah of course. The girl didn't seem to mind, in fact she even took one of the three of us. Sorry we missed you Chris!
A few pix from the "Treasures" show. Hopefully Carl will post more. btw, one of the coolest parts of the exhibit was a video tour of Long Gone John's house. Apologies to Chris. I must have cursed our drive down to OC as we were leaving Astroburger when I declared, "Looks like we'll actually get there on time!" ryden: keane: don't remember who did these, but they were f*cking awesome!! jeep, nara, camille rose garcia: bronze sculpts for c.r.g. by nathan cabrera: awesome, humongous robert williams painting: And the show stopper, a massive todd schorr painting (w/accompanying time-lapse video of him doing the painting over the course of several months wearing the same shirt!):
