Starting up a thread for these wonderfully bizarre and charismatic creations from Kani Sofubi (カニソフビ) who I first became aware of via @animator. To be honest I don't know much about the creator except they have a thing for ocean life and make these in small runs.

Theres a great array of drawings, process photos and more on their site which I definitely recommend checking out: https://www.kanisofubi.net or on Twitter which seems to be updated more frequently: https://twitter.com/hedora83

Here are the 4 creatures I've had the opportunity to adopt and they have become some of my favorites to look at with their charming, loose sculpts and humor filled detail.

Thank you for the info! I missed them when a whole pod of them popped up on Mandarake. Good to see they went to a good home. Love those colors and the whimsy, will keep hunting! :)

Thanks for the welcome in the other thread, @Mr. Humphreys !

Almost all of these popped up on Mandarake in a single night. I was carting them with superhuman speed but someone else grabbed a good half of them instantly. My only regret is not being able to support the artist directly, but these are some of my favorite toys in the scene so I'd pick up some more just for the sake of that.

(Dumb question but how do you embed images to the forum?)
(Yay, thanks for the embed tutorial hehehe)

Thank you for sharing your Kani collection!!! Lovely family there. I had assumed you were the lucky duck who had gobbled the recent batch on Mandarake, they were very nice. They disappeared faster than hot funnel cakes, french fries, or hot crispy onion rings! I have a round swirly cinnamon ring crab and space duck (er yes, I am hungry , haven't had breakfast yet :x). Would really love to find a fish!

So, normally to post a photo, find the small "picture" icon (looks like a tiny square box with a mountain in the middle), right next to the smiley emoji icon, just above the rectangular section you are typing your text entry. Click on the "picture/image" icon, and a pop-up appears where you can paste your image link. Hit the "insert" button, and your image should appear embedded in you message. For some reason the link you gave didn't post in the "insert picture". Normally the image address ends in jpeg, jpg, tif, gif, etc... What I did to post your image is followed the link to your img page, then clicked on your picture and opened it in a new tab. Then click on the html address of the new tab (link addy ends in "jpeg"), and use this addy to post your image. There might be an easier way to capture a shared image link in imgur, perhaps an image address option using the jpg, jpeg, tif, gif, etc... html link format? I haven't used imgur, but use imgbb instead. Thanks again for posting your cuties! :D

    p.s. it's not a dumb question :)

Crabdoll love! I came home to a box of 10 Kani toys this evening that will be for sale at this year's Gamjam in Portland October 5th. I think the very first time his work is for sale in the states. Everything I know about Kani. He is a kind and gentle human. He loves loves loves the "Peanuts". He has super creature catching powers. I once told him I saw a lizard "over there", and he came back with it in his hands two minutes later. We made sure to catch and release right back where he came from. I love his toys so much.
