Below is just an FYI for some of our artists, though I certainly wouldn't think this one would be worth moving to Miami for (unlike the earlier post about the subsidized Art Center studio spaces on South Beach!). Looks like Tate and Amanda of Tate's in Ft. Lauderdale plan to run a 'learn to draw manga' booth at the Miami Book Fair (which, despite Miami's well-deserved rep for shallowness, is "the largest and finest book fair in America" - 250,000 people went over the eight days in 2007). The Book Fair is "partnering with Diamond Comics Distributors to expand the comics and graphic novel presence" this year, and Art Spiegelman (!!! - of Maus fame) will be doing the 2008 poster and speaking at one of the events. _____________________________________________ From Tate's' site -- Looking for an art teacher! We are looking for a teacher for a 'How to Draw' clinic during the Miami Book Fair in November and for possible art classes at TATE'S. Specifically looking for artists who can teach students (of all ages) in a comic or manga style, but opportunities for teachers in 'general drawing skills' may be open too. Students interested in drawing comics could definitely benefit from a class in perspective and anatomy too! If you think this may be something that you would be interested in then send us an email (emailus@tatescomics.com) and include your credentials and areas of interest/specialty. Thanks!
