hello i'm richrd i'm 27. i'm in a noise band and co run a record label. i work in a record store a couple days a week and in my other time i am trying to get a portfolio ready to start attempting to get my work up. i only recently made the jump into jp vinyl but i have been collecting for several years. i don't drive never bothered to get my drivers licence and though i havn't played for a couple years now i really like dungeons & dragons.
I would have taken that challenge a couple years ago! I still might, but I'm sure I've lost a little edge as I haven't watched the show in a couple years. But I think growing up in Portland could make up for some of that!
personally I think in-n-out is the cream of the crop. btw how many of you don't know anyone else who collects what you collect? aside from board members I cant say I do. dragging my friends around on a trip to tokyo to shop after shop made them want to kill me..
Hey, i'm Kirkland. I live in San Francisco and work for a large software company. I've been into Japanese toys since I was a kid. Mostly die-cast mecha, Japanese action figures and mini figures. Got back into Japanese toys prolly 17 years ago. Caught the Japanese vinyl bug around a year ago. Now hopelessly addicted....
Hey dudes and dudettes... my name is zach....I'm from phoenix i live in chicago in Humboldt park.... i like drinking cobras.... i rollerblade...and skateboard some ive been into ultraman since i was little....that was the gateway drug i guess i like stuff with the old hand made feel...thats why i guess i like a lot of kaiju stuff (from right to left) heres a pic of me....my girlfriend alison....and my buddy josh Jam!
dear everybody, my name is thomas, and i'm an unemployed recluse residing in texas. i've been here at skullbrain awhile, but rarely have anything worthwhile to say. i just lurk the toy forums, and when the mood strikes me i post something. i have a small collection (like 15 fight figs), as i am not rich dude. i was first introduced to japanese vinyl when i picked up a issue of super7 with godzilla on the cover. ever since then i've been hooked. my other interests include video games, death metal, guitar wolf, drugs, reading (things like HST, William Gibson, Answer Me!, Vice, HP Lovecraft come to mind), fast food, zombies, painting, knife fighting, firearms, cooking shows, torrents (ARRRRR!), etc. my turnoffs are: non-smokers (cancer is good for you!), politics, religions, children, methers, other than that i'm a very tolerant guy. i will try to post more, but i'm lazy as hell. Love, gunshintohm
gunshintohm- Guitar Wolf rules, but I don't smoke because Guitar Wolf gives me cancer Bannedindc-NONE of my friends collect crap! I have 1 who lightly collects Superman stuff, but that's it. He looks at me like I'm nuts when I start talking toys.
they call me toby. i am married and have a beautiful daughter that both mean the world to me. next in line comes my dog and two cats. i live in massachusetts and work for a large toy company. i have an attic full of star wars, james bond, horror/mcfarlane, nightmare before christmas and comic book stuff all sitting in tubs which made me sad. i found western vinyl and saw that people were actually opening the stuff they bought and i was hooked on that concept (why did i buy all this stuff to hide away? STUPID ME!). i eventually was drawn to jp stuff and now it is mainly what i dig. my next passion is music and i will listen to anything but opera and country music both of which suck major ass in my opinion. i own about 800 cds. i have been know to really like metal. i have been to japan with my old band but unfortunately was not into kaiju at the time. today i am very sad about this missed oportunity. it is early here and this is all i can think of writing at the moment. thank you.
My name is Arin, my friends (and possibly enemies) call me any number of things but the most popular nickname seems to be "caps" I am originally from central Pennsylvania, and now I live in Henderson Nevada (and work in Las Vegas) In spite of what you may automatically think, I am not employed by a casino! I am a software developer/consultant/all around computer nerdo, which is also why I am basically online all the time. As exciting as it may sound, I moved out here for the job, but now that I have been here a couple years it is really cool living in Vegas, i can't complain. As for collecting... When I was little I had basically every G.I Joe, He-Man, Transformer, Ninja Turtle and Micro Machines toys. I was also big into baseball cards and stuff, but mostly because my grandparents owned a chain of stores that sold them at the checkout counter so I got free boxes of wax packs! As I got older I started to get into comics/cards and that led to action figures and especially McFarlane and spawn toys. I also used to be pretty into anime and i have a decent collection of that still, but I haven't watched anything new in years now... Somewhere along the way i stumbled across concert posters and started collecting those which actually led me to the "urban vinyl" scene. I mostly concentrate on Kozik and Shepard Fairey (Obey) stuff in that realm. From there I found super7 and the rest is pretty much the same ol' story Here is a pic of my from when my friends and I threw a "Fake Mustache Formal" party at our home-made basement bar. It was a glorious night And here is my Yahoo IM Avatar, I'm proud of it for some reason haha

I feel i'm the love child of Dario Argento and Sergio Leone
Jagshemesh! My name Andy! I grew up in Illinois and got a degree in advertising from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. Through a fortunate turn of events, I managed to weasel my way into the videogame industry. I moved to Texas about ten years ago and am currently employed as an artist at id software. Most recently I worked on Doom3 for the PC and Xbox. I've been into Japanese die-cast robots and Godzilla since I was a kid. I started collecting Michael Lau figures six years ago and very selectively branched into Be@rbricks and western vinyl. I first learned of Secret Base from a Super7 magazine that came as a freebie with my Gorillaz figures. I made the plunge at San Diego Comicon 2006 with the pink Obake Masked Ranger. It was there where I first met the friendly yet swarthy members of the Skullbrain messageboard when I was politely informed that non-VIP people had to stand at the back of the Pushead signing line... I made a note to join the messageboard as soon as I got home.
i LOVE that album!! *gets teary thinking about it* this is a great thread, so interesting... creevox, don't feel bad, i think i gained a person over the last 3 years!
It might be that I'm close to being the oldest on this board but I am living my "second childhood" while enjoying JP vinyl so that has to count for something !! I grew up in Tokyo as an air force brat and was then stationed in Okinawa for 3 years with the Navy so all those experiences have given me an appreciation for Japanese people, culture, history, food, art, furniture ..... and did I say TOYS !!! Me & my friend. Oshima Island, Tokyo Bay, Japan 2003
Hey cats and kittens, My name is Alex. I live in New Jersey with my wife, son, and our 2 dogs. My wife and I own a printing and pre-press business. The first movie I ever saw was Godzilla vs. Megalon. That's most likely when the damage occured. I started collecting Japanese toys when I was a kid. In the 1980's a Japanese family moved in next door to my best friends house. We made friends with their son, Hiro. He had the biggest Micronauts we had ever seen. I learned that my Shogun Warriors and Micronauts, were just a small sample of an amazing toy universe that existed half a world away. The veil was lifted, the dreamer had awakened. I rejected Matel, rebuked Kenner, and dedicated myself to the exotic, and esoteric world of toys from Japan. I collect alot of different kinds of toys but, these days I mostly collect toys associated with my favorite Kaiju movies from my childhood. I have more money than when I was a kid, and the internet sure makes it easier to track down and acquire the toys I want, but I am still collecting the same stuff I wanted when I was 5. I don't have a picture of myself handy, but here is a picture of my dog Judo. They say people and their dogs look alike, so this is probobly what I would look like naked, in a baby pool, on a hot day. Except I would be holding a margarita.
Hey y'all. This'll have to be the shorthand version, as the full one would bore you to death. Anyhow: Born 1962, suburb of Milwaukee, WI. Early love of horror movies on TV, leading into Famous Monsters mag, Aurora models etc. Discovered rock music at 14 or so and went from Kiss, Rush, and Nuggets-era stuff to the Ramones as soon as punk broke in '77. (Insert typical suburban boredom/drug anecdotes here: If you've seen Freaks and Geeks that was my high school experience to a T). Went to college for a semester right out of HS, but got distracted by music and played in a band (Die Kreuzen) from '80 to '91, eventually visiting most of the world (except Japan, which I still regret). Continued playing and recording with different bands, and finally finished my degree (English/Film Studies) in 2001. Currently work at a credential evaluation service http:www.ece.org (it's easier than trying to explain) but I still play - my latest project is an album by an atmospheric-noise collective called Boy Dirt Car that we're self-releasing. Toy history is quite like everyone else's - I'm a natural packrat, so I've got everything from comics figures to Simpsons toys to Barbie dolls. KR stuff was somewhat of a gateway drug for me, but thanks to Jackie, Pogue, and 'Moco I've been an SB/Kaiju freak for a year or so. Probably the best thing about this particular fetish is the maturity and coolness of its participants; and for that I'm grateful. Here's a picture of myself and my lovely wife Janet at one of Milwaukee's many street fairs - enjoying the rock in the daylight.
