What are the figures on the bottom shelf? Popy or Mattel? I had a bunch as a kid after visiting Hong Kong and America.Wish I had them now...

Sanjeev, what is that Ryger diecast? Is that customized. I've seen that color scheme on the back of old popy boxes and in terebi kuns but never in life. Gimmie a better pic of that I FART A LOT.

organic, the ones on the bottom are a mix of both Popy and Mattel...but mostly Popy except for the Kargosaur (Daikumaryu) and the Danguard ST in the back...and prolly one or more of the Getta G's.

Robert, that GGG is the original Takara DX toy, of course! FUCK all the later incarnations of this guy--the original DX is PURE toy love. Super-sturdy plastic. Tough, clicky joints. Solid connections...you and your kid can play with this thing for hours!

Erik, that Ryger's totally custom...sorry, man! I bought a beat to shit Shogun back in the day and instead of trying to restore the original color scheme, I just decided to paint him as he is in the show! Nothing special...

I think you meant this link, Jim..

    http://www.sixsite.com/jumboland/index2.html

of course, you can also check out all the work I did at CDX. I gotta figure a way to have the junior/carnival machinders separated someday. Maybe create an umbrella term "Machinder" that everything can be included in and then break it down to jumbos and juniors... But in the meantime, here's everything all together.. Most of the good reviews are 3 or 4 pages in. After that, I basically ran out of quality stuff to review.. lol

I sure love me some Grendizer. And, yes, that Jumbo is arguably the best vintage representation of him...though I'd say the GA-37 DX is up there, too (though I'd *sure* love a C10 specimen of that guy...all JoshF style!).

One last thing about the Grendy Jumbo: if anyone has any leads on the accompanying Spacer (for hopefully under $10k! ;) ), lemme know!

I certainly don't have a collection of super-robots, but I have a huge amount of respect for them. I got this guy as a gift when I was probably 4-5 years old and immediately recognized that it was superior to the rest of my toys. I've managed to keep its box and most of its accessories all these years. My mom still likes to tease me about how I was always so careful with it and how I always made sure to put everything back in its box when I was done playing with it. I'm sure there are cooler, more sought-after robots out there, but for me this Godaikin Godsigma is what taught me to respect Japanese Robots for their quality and awesomeness.

Thanks, man! I'm also psyched the box/paperwork is just as nice! Oh...and, again, any help with that Spazer would be much appreciated!

midnight26man, great story! One thing that we really enjoy over on the vintage board at TBDX is hearing personal stories like this about folks' actual experiences growing up with particular toys. Great shit!

Nice, midnight26man! I'm still trying to get a hold of a nice specimen.

Sanjeev, great stuff. I never realized that the X-Bomber vehicle was that large! (and yes, I know that there were 2 sizes made) No wonder it commands such a high price.

Although my Jumbo collection is not on par with many other collectors, I thought I'd throw it up anyway. I started taking vids to update my collection thread over at RJF (new and vintage diecast, vinyl, etc.). But since we're posting Jumbos, here goes:

    Awesome Jumbos, Miles!

Where did you get that black/gold-detailed Raideen jumbo? Is it a custom?

Actually, there were three sizes. I have that big-scale DX and the ST gokin...but there's also a mini-gokin out there...

But the third is only a cheap plastic toy (I believe). I don't count that. ;)

The black Raideen is a custom, but not my own. There's someone on RJF that did one too (you might remember his), but this predates his by a few years and has a different paint scheme. Its kind of subtle, like the gokin. I really dig it.

Thanks, I'm glad you liked my story.

I like to think that those of us that are passionate enough about toys to post about them on the internet have a few in our collections that are really special, you know? Not just as collectibles, but as seriously awesome toys that we loved as children.
