I just wanted to ask if people thought we should start the whole Japan toy of the Day on KidRobot again. The reason I ask is because it seemed to draw new people in over time, which is a great thing for Super7, Span, MaxToy Co, VGA. ect. I tend to think new blood is good for us even though it means we will have to answer the same 20 questions again. I want to know what you think, should we start posting all our cool ass toys on Kid Robot again?
yeah, sure... But I'd promote some of the smaller toy lines that don't already have HUGE RUMP followings already.
This will mean, aside from all the questions, we will have to go through the whole "I need it" "I want it" "Show me where to get it" and "Give it to me NOW" shit quickly followed by the "I'm looking to sell...". That pain isn't worth the sharing.
I would look forward to seeing the responses... espcially since I used to post things like "What the heck is that thing? It looks like an orange with legs"
i say all the vintage collectors post stuff. that way they can't get what they see and it drives them into a frenzy so they chew their limbs off...or maybe not. yeah start posting again. i used to love those posts before i came over here. it will mean less "new release" jp stuff for us but what can you do. spread the love...spread the love.
yeah, but when they're looking to sell, we can lowball 'em... Pssssh... another Red Skullwing for sale? I'll give you $25 shipped...
It'll be like marijuana the "Gateway Drug". I would like nothing more than see S7 & all do well and I'd dig more fans, but I could do without all that KR bullshit, flipping and other nonsense. How about posting pics, giving names, manufacturers, history, etc. . and let them do some digging and find their way here on their own. At least it'll weed out the lazy fucks.
we all agreed not to poke fun at chronic anymore after the little guys got sad and painted themselves from the inside out. Just to be clear, I won't post a link to skullbrain in my Japan toy of the day post. I do like the idea of posting toys that are long gone or stuck on the shelf.
I'm all for the posting of a new JP toy for sure but we definitely gotta leave out any links to here and let them find it themselves like said earlier. That way skullbrain is discovered by people w/an sincere interest and not by the fly by nighters. That being said I voted yes!!
Sure...spread the joy around...but I say stranger the better: less SB more Bemon; less RxH, more Cigarette Harm Man...
Hey! Not until I've scored a Bemon or two and just scored my first Cigarette Harm Dood. Love the strange (that used to mean something else, wink, wink)
I don't see what point exclusivity makes. I mean, everyone's a beginner at some time. I'm not a massive consumer of JP stuff, but I have a few pieces, and I just enjoy the information-gathering aspect of a board like this. I certainly don't like everything everybody else does, but it's a whole other world, and a pretty interesting one, too. That said, it's certainly less judgmental and rife with drama 'round here. Short answer: Why not?
do it....i was growing tired of most western vinyl and i saw the stuff u guys were posting and now ive found a new part of toy colecting i love...that and Hotrods insistance i give SB a try
It's no sweat having new kids come over to play and find stuff out - I was definitely in the same boat and am probably still there on many things, but drama has certainly come along with some of the recent influx, not to mention the whole "Gotta have it, now I gotta sell it" attitude. I absolutely HATE that shit.
Have to agree with these guys. Let the scene grow organically and through word of mouth or PMs. I may be naive, but I don't understand the need for all the promotion. To reframe the situation, how would you (or others) feel about KR types posting Western Toy of the Day threads over here every day? Pictures of Trexis and other crap flooding the "show your collection" forum? The KR board is a disaster, why attempt to bring that drama over here?
