Ok guys.......... its time for me to post this: In Pogue's thread "yikes" everybody came down hard on the guy who won the raffle for Koji's custom Gargamel Hedorah............ he was called a dick, a jackass, and a dirty flipper, amongst other things. I really wanted that Hedoran so I PM'd him on the KR Board & asked how much he wanted to sell it, or if he wanted anything in trade for it. Here is his response to me: I think I'm more interested in a fair trade than in selling him outright at this point. I'm somewhat new to Kaiju (the Kaiju for Grownups series has been kind of a gateway drug) so I may regret giving up the Hedoran one day but right now I am trying to fill other holes in my collection. ]Here's what I am looking for: Biskup Mini Blue Dragamel Biskup Gamagon Biskup Pollard Horvath Mothman Zagoran Mini Zagoran I don't have any of these so I'm open to various colorways. Thanks for your interest, He wasn't flipping & he wasn't holding out for a high price. I made a deal with him for one of the items on his list & spoke to him on the phone. He said he really thought that Koji's work & the Hedoran were beautiful, but that they just didn't fit into his collection. A lot of people are quick to jump on others when they want to sell something, when they don't even know the reasons for the sale or "flip". Now he is happy & I am ecstatic that Koji's Hedoran is on its way to me. Sincerely, MUCH THANKS to Brian, Glenn & Isaac's girlfriend for passing on the Hedoran so that a real fan would get it, because in the end that is what happened!
Yes, I had some interaction with him too and saw that he's a nice and sincere man who had no idea that his choice was offensive to some. The main principle of objection was that the winner should have been someone who would have appreciated the custom such that they would have held on to it for their collection and personal appreciation. The passion of the objections was partially fueled by a basic sense of manners (as I saw it) but moreover by the fact that the three prior winners had abdicated from the win on respectable principle. This made the eventual winner's choice to trade look poorly, although it seems very likely that he didn't see it the same way. There was a recent prior incident in which an alleged custom gift had been resold, so I think that incident was still "in the air." Not trying to justify anyone's actions or choices, just my perspective. By the way, did he consent to let you post your private communication publicly here? Perhaps you inteded to defend him with your post, but it seems to me like it risks renewal of the controversy. I assume the prior thread was locked to put the matter to rest.
He didn't consent to let me post as I didn't ask him......... I just felt that, as you said, he was a nice, sincere man, and didn't think he was doing anything wrong. I don't think that he has seen any of these posts with comments about the incident & I don't know if he even knows of Skullbrains existence. Maybe this post should be locked also & the matter put to rest.
It should also be noted that some people buy things or accept a raffle winning cause they're caught up in the moment. And then later, decide that it doesn't fit in with their collection or they have second thoughts on it. Or the wife hates it or whatever. Not saying that this is the case here. Just outlining another example of what could happen.
i think part of the reason people got so pissed off is that he offered it up on KR and not here. anyway, congrats and glad you're happy.
I totally understand your saying. Honestly, I thought it was kinda messed up to offer it up after the show. Knowing that there are alot of people during the show who is totally wantting to be the winner for that figure. But as long as it ended up to the person who really enjoys collecting Gargamel, then I don't have anything else to say. Congrats on the figure.
Hi all, thanks to all of you who are glad I got it................... it arrived yesterday and is awesome................
Bummer about those who gave it up, but I'm glad it got into the hands of somebody who will appreciate it. Congrats.
my opinion on this is he should have kept it and at least given it a chance to be liked. He was so excited to win it. or he should have just passed it along at no charge to someone that would have liked it. keep this hobby friendly!
Very cool. Well, like everyone else has already said, I'm glad it wound up with someone who appreciates it. He sure is a purty fella. I think if I were to get that, it would force me to start collecting Hedorans.
I am glad someone here got it but it was supposed to be free. It seems like money is the only motivator lately. Oh well.
