Crazy! I liked this part: "I just love the smell of things," Nigo explains as he picks through today’s boxes. "I like the feel of secondhand clothes, of vinyl, the smell of an old print, of old furniture. And when I touch this stuff"—he carefully picks up a Colonel Sanders doll—"I feel good. I feel very alive. I just love having so much stuff." I think we can all relate, be it on a much smaller scale.
“I just wonder how he feels when he sees ugly people wearing his clothes. If you go to the countryside in America and people are wearing Bathing Ape, that’s not very cool.” LOL
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NafdlAjS5Q check out his toy collection...fuck that actually..check out his ride and where he keeps it!
I'm not hating on what he has done. Rappers have always dressed like toddlers (remember kriss kross' backwards clothes or parachute pants?) So to make a whole line based on stuff that looks like adolescent wear and market it to rap kids is freakin genious. I wouldn't be caught dead rockin' it or let a friend wear it out. I feel like some people don't have someone around thats honest that can be like hey dude, I know that hoodie cost you like 400 bucks but straight up you look ridiculous.
I know Hiroshi Fujiwara personallly and yes, everyone in Tokyo pretty much hates Nigo. Being chauffered around in a Rolls Royce wearing a mink coat seems to stimuate that.
He drinks expensive wines too. He should move to england, people there love it when others waste money and are chauffered around. I don't consider anything as expensive as his stuff as a "street" brand either. As for fujiwara's comment about how people in the america countryside wearing that stuff not being cool I guess working for levi's and nike is like the most uncool thing ever. At first I thought it meant that Nigo was supposed to be such an urban brand that it kills it, but then it went on to say I thought he was one of us? Isn't that being more like them, soon at trailer parks proper attire will be nike kicks, levi's jeans and a bape hoodie. Although I only wear Levi's please someone tell me that isn't common to see on country dwellers.
I'm always on the the hunt for one of these, ever since I saw this picture. seriously I collect Sanders also
I saw one of those a few years ago at a place in Tokyo called Don Quixote. I think it was in Roppongi but they have them all over. I went back a few years later to look for it but I couldn't find it
Don Quixote is a chain. They are amazing. Its like a dept store/sex store/toy store/maid bad/arcade shoved in a pinball machine. I got the panda costume there.
