Hi, Everyone. My name is Len and I live in San Francisco. I'm a 38 y.o. Bay Area native and in my lifetime I've collected more things than I care to admit. Toys have been the addiction of choice in the last decade or so with vinyl taking the top spot in recent years. I've been lurking here for a while and I'm afraid I posted a week or so ago without first introducing myself. I apologize for jumping the gun like that, but I was anxious to learn what I could about Gogamezilla and what it might cost to get one. D'oh! Besides a quest for a Goga, I have an interest in vintage kaiju, specifically, Bullmark circa 1974. Could anyone tell me where the proper place is for me to post on the subject? Is there a forum for vintage vinyl? Thanks.
Hey Muffino. Probably Japan Toys is your best option. There really should be a vintage forum. I would think it would get more traffic than Balzac, Kubricks or Bounty Hunter (not that there''s anything wrong with those).
Welcome il_muffino from a fellow San Franciscan and kinda-sorta newb! There have been some really great threads on the subject of vintage vinyl here during the six months or so that I've been reading the board. I agree that a forum dedicated to the subject would be fantastic.
just wondering why the fixation with vinyl that was produced in 1974 ? is it because that was the last production year ( i think ) for bullmark ? just curious .
Thanks for saying hello. In response to your query, VintageVinyl, I am looking for a specific toy. It's the one pictured in my avatar. The research I've done tells me that it is called Ron (Worst, kaiju name, ever!) and was made by Bullmark in 1974. My parents bought this toy for me while on a family trip to Hawaii when I was 6 years old. I had it for many years until I one day decided I was too old for such things and donated it to Goodwill or another such organization. D'oh! Now, many years later, I am on a quest to possess this toy once again.
Welcome. Come by Super 7 this saturday and introduce yourself in person! We will be the guys fogging up the new Kaiju cabinet looking for stuff that maybe wasn't there last saturday...
Hmmmm... within 24 hours of me asking where to post about vintage vinyl there is a brand new 'vintage vinyl' forum. I know it's just coincidence, but I'm going to pretend like it was my post that made it happen. Thanks for the note, Frank. I was at Super7 a couple of weeks ago and I met Josh who mentioned that Flynn might be the guy to talk to. I'll give it a try. Toybot, I just might drop by the store on Saturday. I'd like to see what a toy release is like, but I'm not an early riser, so I may miss all the action. If you see a 5'7"ish, thin, glasses wearing guy with a ponytail, that's me. It would be neat to meet some folks in person.
