hey everybody, my favorite time of year is rapidly approaching which means that I have to start making plans to celebrate since there are only so many weekends available to hit up haunted houses/hayrides and that sort of thing. however, I've pretty much exhausted most of them in the philadelphia area, and they very rarely change enough year to year to go back time and time again (it's usually the same old thing). therefore, I'm always looking for others to try to go to, even if it means some traveling. is there anythign cool in your neck of the woods? if so, please let me know about it. I've always wanted to go to that one in MA that is Headless Horseman themed and I think this year might be the year I make the trip.
I am always disapointed by these things. They never live up to my expectations.I heared the one that Pantera opened up was amazing. You know a haunted house is great when there are protesters outside.
I was just telling missy today that one of these years I'm going to have to travel down there and go to that pantera house. I wonder if the monsters mosh you into the walls. totally exteme metal ghouls.
Moundsville prison in west virginia is supposedly haunted as shit. You can even stay over night! http://www.wvpentours.com its about 1.5 hours out of pgh. This is where they filmed that one MTV show fear or whatever it was called. I tried to go one year on halloween and the line was a mile long. We also have some places done by pittsburgh natives like tom savini and I don't know if romero does something or not.
yeah, I've never been to the tom savini one either. I'm sure romero has nothing to do with any of it.
my wife stayed here once...she made it back...BOOM! http://www.lizzie-borden.com/ P.S. saw this table at SDCC...it may be of interest to you goulies http://www.hauntedmemories.com/
Here in Long Beach we have PCH blvd. north haunted house running 24/7. You can observe ghoulish HO bags from the safety of your vehicle. I get the livin' crap scared outta me twice a day.
In Seattle, there is an "underground" tour. It's mostly not about ghosts, but there are those who claim the underground old city the tour is of is haunted.
We have some ghost tours in Plymouth, MA (where I live). They take you through 400 year old graveyards and churches and give you lanterns to walk around with..I'll get a flyer on my way home from work tonight and get you the info. There are some others...I don't know if Spooky World still exists or not...they moved it to a stadium but I'm not sure they're doing it this year.
theres plenty of weird shit in va. whether or not its worth driving for is another question. this place is supposed to be hilarious but not really in a good way. http://www.roadsideamerica.com/attract/ ... unted.html how is jasons woods in pa?

You can go camp out right before if you have huge balls but you might get arrested. PM me and I will bullshit with you some more about it. This place is real man not made up.
I've only been to a haunted house once in my life. A girl I had a huge crush on wanted to go to one a couple days before Halloween, so I took her. Everything was great until we got inside. In the second room, one of the ghosts or monsters got a little too excited and hit me in the side of the head with a stick really hard. It wasn't as big as a baseball bat and he didn't wind up or anything but it was enough to knock me over and put me in a lot of pain.
My wife's Aunt's house is currently haunted by her Father (my wife's grandfather) and a couple other spirits. There has been some strange activity going on there. The large (50 lb) mirror they have up hanging on the wall was taken down and put in another bedroom. Furniture has been taken and put on top of beds... My sister in law (who also lives there), her bed matress was found off the bed and standing stright up against the wall. Clothes have been found thrown around the house. A pair of tennis shoes ended up in the dryer which was on but not plugged into the wall. The other night, while my uncle and aunt in law (i think that's what they are called) tried to watch Televsion and when the TV would not turn on my uncle tried to figure out what was going on and noticed all the plugs from the back of the T.V. including the cable, dvd player and surround sound chords had been removed. They say this is only happeneing at night, and they have had expert phychics in the house on a couple occasions who believe it is the grandfather who passed a couple month ago and is trying to communicate with the help of two other spirits.... anyway, My wife and I are going to sleep there tommorow night to see if we see anything strange. I am one of the biggest sceptics in the world and will not 100% believe it till I see it, but the stuff that has been happening is to strange to ignore. I'll report back any findings!
I've never been to Jason's Woods. that's the one of the only ones within driving distance that I haven't ever checked out. as far as "real" haunted stuff (ie not set up things where teens in masks jump out at you), I've been lucky to live next to NJ my whole life, and thanks to that zine Weird NJ there's been plenty of local ghost stories in investigate.
i know this is a bit mean but i fuckin' laughed out loud when i read this post. i got the best visual of some idiot with a frankenstien mask on wacking some poor kid in the head with a stick as he growled and then dropped off into..."dude...i'm soooooo sorry"
Thats pretty much what happened but with a sheet over his head, I think. They pulled me outside pretty quick so it wouldn't ruin the experience for anyone else. Its funny now but I was pissed then.
You can come to my house. I've done a haunted house here for the last 3 years. This is the time of year I start tinkering with new projects. I just bought a Sharper Image animatronic chimp head off eBay that's really freaky. I think I'll make him into a flying wizard of oz type monkey with bat wings.
I did a really crappy little haunted house out front of my parents house for the last few Halloweens, I had to get all of the props and set it up with very little help so it was never as great as I would have hoped for, but some peeps always came through to help me scare kids on Halloween, I'll post a slide show of it if I can find one.
I made a slide show with some of the pictures, but they suck because you can't tell how much cooler it all looked in the dark with the colorful flashing lights and smoke machine and everything, and you can't see all of the terrified children crying, but they were. Anyways it is here, as is my other masterpiece Consumer Whore: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QA9ZZauTTU
dude !!!! i think i've seen this chimp head. its terrifying outside of the context of a haunted house! In a brightly lit store full of people, it still scares me. skylar keeps joking that i'm getting it for christmas. i'd kill him. I think it goes back to my fear of those monkeys that play cymbals. My mom has one in the basement, and whenever its time to torment missy, that thing makes an appearance. ok, i'm freaked. aaaah.
Missy - you and my wife both! I had to put the chimp head in my workshop because she wouldn't go into my closet when it was in there. When I told her my plan for the wizard of oz monkey she freaked out.
