SWEET! Dude I had no idea those clear invaders were modeled after full sized figures. Learn somethin new everyday (or every couple of minutes when it's skullbrain)

    nice pics!

Great scores! I've got some of those mini Waldars coming, now I really can't wait! I've got to get a set of the invaders, those look great.

What's the deal with the larger Waldars and Invaders, are they vinyl? They don't look like the regular bodies, but I don't know much about the Cyborg stuff (except that I like it!).

in the late 90's Takara made these vinyl versions of the walders and invaders... I don't really know why. I know people were hacking the walders up to use them as costumes for real henshins. The heads also pop off to reveal an alien head in the walders or a robot head in the invaders. I love them a lot and they're still some of my favorite toys. I bought a couple of them (and doubles) for so sickly cheap at a comic store when they wanted to blow them out.

The full-size original invaders look pretty neat... hypnotator who occasionally posts here did a review on Robot Japan a while back.

I thought they looked vinyl. Wow, that's actually cooler than the real thing to me. I just prefer vinyl.

Before I begin scouring the earth for these, are they rare or expensive?

I love the mini-Waldars, but wouldn't they have been so cool if their bodies were translucent, and the costume parts were painted?

    Thanks for the info Bryan!

Turtle - there is an auction on eBay for a full set of the Invaders. The Waldars come and go on there too. Prices can be cheap or high depending the time between drinks really. I got my Plantman and Dokuro King for $50 the pair.

yeah, i agree, with patience you'll find the for between $20 and 50 each. I had the most trouble finding satan king, the blue and the red invader.

Heh heh, they were my easiest!!!!!!
Thought Dokuro King was going to be my nemisis, but got him ok in the end. The Green invader is the rarest I see about the traps.

Your groups look real nice in the top pics Bryanarchy. The little guys look cool with the bigger lads.

yes it is fresh..Just to warn everyone..I already knew it before i got it but the repros w/the newer suits tend to get scuffed or the vinyl on the newer suits reacts w/the newer plastic bodies leaving the bodies dull under the suited appendages..BTW it definitely rulez!!!

Man, those are so cool! I really dig the big clear Invaders.
Esp. (ahem!) the (cough-cough!) green one. $5 you say???
Forgive my ignorance of this genre, but was there a TV show,
or were these just toys, like Microman?

Just toys, no cartoons or anything as far as i know... I love the idea of that. When i was a kid i was more into toys that i could build my own adventures instead of feeling obligated to know that Hawk wasn't leader of the Joes anymore, etc...

    What about the terms?
    "Henshin" and "Walder"?
    What do they mean?

(P.S. I'm gonna DELETE this post as soon as you answer,
hide my embarassment at my own ignorance!).

Alice - it's cool. The terms Henshin refers to the Line of figures Takara made way back in the 70's called the Henshin Cyborg. They were the precursors to the Micromans only they were 12" tall instead of 3 3/4" tall. The Walders are the bag guys.

So erase away - now you know. Do a little looking around and you will see a ton of reference on these.

Totally beats the hell out of me... Henshin cyborgs were the good guys and the walders were the bad guys...

I'm far from an expert, but there's tons of info and stuff at http://robotjapan.proboards12.com/index.cgi?board=Takaramicro and the people on there are really nice, knowledgeable and patient to answer questions.

Don't be embarrassed, they're pretty unknown, i think. Strangely though, they were what really got me into japanese toys.

    ARGH!!! You guys QUOTED me!!!
You KNOW I can't delete that!!!
    ARGH!!!

But yeah, it seems these were what got a LOT of people into Japanese toys.
I must be going BACKWARDS or something. Came in via Godzilla, kaiju, and Tetsujin
(how could I forget Tetsujin?), just discovered Henshin Cyborgs.
    Does it never END?
