Geo, from your replies, I get the impression that Mr. Anraku and his team is at your becking call!

With cream and sugar on top please.....with extra mayo.

This is so enviable....jealous of these gorgeous Gogas.

I did not mean to imply that and it is absolutely not the case. I choose from the same listed options as anybody who gets a notification of a new release. Special requests have always been politely declined.

I really like the eyes too!

The Gogas' eyes, profile, and (imagined) disposition have always reminded me of English Bull Terriers. And I mean that in the best possible way, because those dogs have great character.

Not my dog or my photos:

Oh man, with that comparison you just totally made me love Gogas! Bull Terriers, Boston Terriers and French Bulldogs are the best!

If anyone on "the list" is offered a Cadmium (or Goga... ) that they don't want to purchase please PM me. After those new Cads that were released, and the Bull Terrier comparison I'd love to get one of these two figures.

So, as I understand it, Mr. Anraku has retired the original Goga line? Those are beautiful toys! I never really appreciated them when they were more readily available, but I do now.

the aurora goga series is 100% not one-off. there are different paint schemes so each are slightly different in that series. there is also no mythical chemical treatment etc, they are all just dyed black.

basically all the black based figures are dyed. the vader dako is 100% dyed black as well. i think there were 2 or 3 different paint schemes for the vader dako series.

To me, its about as clear as mud. I guess I will just ask next time I talk with Anraku's rep.

It doesn't really make any difference to me or my appreciation for the my black Goga, and I never really thought that much about it. All I have to go on are the statements made to me per my communications with Anraku, There may in fact have been several different series of Auroras offered at one point (see pic below). But I was under the impression when I ordered mine that it was a custom order and never had any reason to think differently because I have never seen another one like it. If anyone does have a pic of another one like mine, I would love to see it!

The "chemical process" is not mythical. Whether it means "dyed" or not, those are the words used by Anraku to describe the process he used for my black Goga.

Maxaltoman: Did you mean "100% not one-off" or "not 100% one-off"? In a prior thread, you had said that the Auroras were "painted" black - did you mean dyed, or did you get new information that made you change your mind?

The kanji next to each pic above is as follows (thanks to Legoomba):
monster green, navy black, dark brown, red brown
dark green, red, navy black, red brown

Well all I really wanted to understand was if there was an "Aurora" or black release of Gogas
so that I might find comfort in knowing there were more out there and of course, "a snowballs chance in hell" that I could obtain one....who knows George, maybe your custom order prompted the "Aurora" release.
Either way spectacular pieces all around. The interesting factor about those early Goga releases is that they all seemed to be slightly different, and in some cases really different in paint applications, ie; more stripes or variations of color, dots in different places etc...to me they are all one offs but part of a run. I could almost hear Anraku saying to himself,
"Ahhh....I'll try stripes here on this one....Ohhhh...this color will look wonderful here!"

Man I love Gogas....I need a box of tissues.

Ralph: I am sure that is not the case. In fact, it was kind of the other way around. I went looking for a black one after the Auroras had come and gone, and that is why I had to pay extra and wait a number of months for A2 to paint the one I have.

Is anyone able to read what it says next to each of the gogas in the picture above?

That's a beauty! Post a pic here if you have one. Per Legoomba's translation, assuming he listed them in order, that would be the "dark green" (apparently referring to the color of the base vinyl).

yes geo, i actually meant dyed black when i mentioned painted black earlier.
anyhow, bottomline is they are not originally black vinyl :D

the black goga series are not one-offs in the sense that they are more than one black goga, but each one if somewhat unique in that series. infact, it is also not a super micro run and i think it is even sold in 2 separate bursts.

anyhow, black goga is THE anraku figure to have if u ask me, so your piece is definitely something very very special fitting for a dedicated AA collector like yourself.

i hope prices wouldn't spin out of control for folks chasing one with so much attention on AA these days.
