So who's going? *raises hand* looks like a good lineup this year, and the movies too, check it out: 'Friday, July 4th will see Godzilla vs. Biollante make its North Amercan theater debut. On Saturday, July 5th, Godzilla X Mechagodzilla will screen for the first time at G-FEST. Since G-FEST falls on a holiday weekend this year, a special double, double-bill will play at the Pickwick Theatre on Thursday, July 3rd to accommodate early arrivers. Two films in the afternoon: Matango (Attack of the Mushroom People) and Destroy All Monsters, and two more films in the evening: Godzilla vs. Gigan and Yamato Takeru (Orochi The Eight-Headed Dragon). This is a great opportunity to meet and interact with fellow G-Fans.' Plus, of course the dealer room which will happily empty our wallets for us For all the current info, check out http://www.g-fan.com/ It would be very cool to meet some other SB'ers for a pint
Yeah we definitely need to get a group together for this. I'm def going but not sure yet what day with the holidays.
I am probably going on the 4th, since I don't give a shit about fireworks. I would be up for meeting any folks if possible, since my girlfriend and a buddy of mine that loves Godzilla will probably both be working all weekend.
Same here, I have a show the night before, so I will be missing out on the Thursday night movies ( waaaaaah!) but def Friday and Saturday.
i'll be heading out the door in a couple of hours to catch the first double feature. finally, i get to experience the notorious matango! i hope i have the endurance to last through the second set as well. i've signed up to volunteer during haruo nakajima's session on saturday morning. i'm looking forward to meeting the man inside the suit. i wish i had that half-costumed godzilla/nakajima figure for him to sign. is there a secret CASK hand signal we can throw up to identify each other in the crowd?
I think it's the shocker isn't it? lol! hmmm, i'll wear a Balzac short if that makes it any easier, and I have a sleeve of tatts on my right arm. I'll be there tomorrow and Saturday, hope to see you there!
Hey dudes, I will in fact be heading up to Madison today for the 4th...darn gf obligations and all. Have fun at G-fest! Hopefully we can organize another meet-up at Roto one of these next weekends.
i just got back from an entire day of great g-fest movies. as fun as it was, i'm glad to be able to say that i got back home alive — there were a lot of delays and quite the hubbub on the L on the way back, and it turns out to be another case of stupid people doing stupid things. please be safe out there, people!
I will be there Saturday. If you see a guy wearing a shirt of a hardcore band and with horror themed tattoos on one arm, that's (probably me). Feel free to say hi.
Dammit! I probably missed you lol! I was there Friday and Saturday. it was bloody great, and getting to meet big 'G' himself was really cool. I just wish I had more money with me. Damn responsibilities *waves fist*
we have nothing of this nature in Canada. its very upsetting. Ultra Gig, I love the quote in your sig...Buzz Killington is my gamertag on xbox lol
haha! cheers! I think the organisers, or at least one of them, comes down from Canada to do this. thats weird you don't have one up there, although, if you have some spare time, maybe you could get one going? that'd be awesome!
Scott, Don and August who are all exhausted from hours and hours of signing! I flew in from Chicago late Monday night, and (no, I'm not going to say, "Boy, are my arms tired") I'm still zonked -- not from the hours of travel (Chicago to San Francisco via Phoenix), but when I was picked up at SFO, my friend Rachel said, "Deathguild?" So, off we went to drink. It must have been the pressurization, because the first drink when straight to my head (or was it the lingering effects of drinking "Godzilla Blood" on Sunday night?) Overall, G-Fest was a great time. Meet some really cool folks. I got a lot of love. Singed a lot of books (we sold out on Saturday morning!). Drank "Godzilla Blood" (thanks, Jay). Ate Baked Clams and real Chicago-style pizza (thanks to Danny & Joey). Had a lot of laughs. Got ripped on by Don Frye, star of GODZILLA FINAL WARS (he made me laugh for hours during the autograph sessions). Had a wonderful private dinner with Haruo Nakajima, the original Godzilla suit actor (thanks to Tom & Diane of Clawmark Toys). But, I only got to go into Chicago, proper, the day I flew out. Between my sessions at the event, pressing flesh and signing my books, I hardly left the hotel. Now, while I feel bad that I didn't get to meet -- or even call -- some Chicagoans I had promised to catch up with. I still had a great time because of some local knuckle-heads, namely Danny and Joey. Even though we've communicated in the past (for years), we had never met in person before, but it was like we had always known each other. Crazy (interestingly enough, we even have mutual friends in the music scene). Thanks to Brett, Armand, J.D., Robert and anyone else I may have left out (congrats to the staff and Andy and Jeff, in particular). I hope that I will be invited back to G-Fest next year! (And I didn't wear any perfume or stuff Bullmarks down my pants, either!)
nice one! it was great to meet you (albeit briefly) at the con, I was actually coveting your Coop shirt the whole time I was standing in line lol!
Sorry I missed this. Looks like it was a quality time. Love August's book...would have been cool to meet you. If anyone has any other pics, feel free to post them!
I picked up the Coop shirt before I left San Francisco at Cheap Thrill for $14.95. I'm 99% sure that I will be at G-Fest next year, too. In the meantime, I'll be at the San Diego Comic Con signing books on Saturday July 26th @ 3:30 pm and Sunday July 27th @ at the Chronicle Books booth (Booth 1637) in the titanic Dealer's Room. C'mon down and say "hey"!
I just wrote a more detailed story about this year's G-Fest XV for my blog, please check it out EATING STEAKS WITH GODZILLA!
FYI - the Chicago Shimpo (bilingual newspaper) will have a feature on G-Fest in tomorrow's edition, including an interview with Haruo Nakajima. Wish I coulda made it!
