Anyone going to FYF this year? Line up looks pretty good. Pretty excited about The Descendents.

I'm probably the lone wolf here, but there is not a single act on that bill that excites me enough to bother going. Saw the Descendents a gazillion years ago and I'm too out of touch to even bother with many of the others. I do know the guy that puts these together and he's a good egg so hopefully it's a success and those who do attend have one hell of a time.

Just thinking about the amount of "hipster" kids that are going to be there is making me think twice about going, but I like enough acts there to go.

Kinda glad they moved it out of the park and into the streets of DTLA.

The only band i'm REALLY excited about on that line-up is OFF!

The Descendents are good too, and maybe Explosions In The Sky would be nice.

Well, there's that too. And let's try and keep in mind that not all hipsters are kids and that makes them even more pathetic.

Since the subject was sort of touched upon... what exactly do hipsters represent? I mean, do they stand for anything except complete douchebaggery?

Not to mention I don't trust anyone who has to take valuable time out of their day to do themselves up. For example, I was at the Pasadena CC swap meet last Sunday and there were two guys dressed up like lumberjack's as far as I could figure. WTF is that?

Yeah, i'm not sure if there is a true definition of a hipster. They follow the current fashion trends. Most are definitely D-bags. I think all of them really judge each other based on how they look.

As far as the two lumberjack guys. Maybe they just got done logging, or it's some lumberjack fetish thing they are into.

    I'll probably go to this.

Dont get too excited about teh Descendents - I heard they cancelled a sceond London show cos Milo's voice gave out tow songs into teh first one.

Off! Yes! Plenty of other bands I like also - ExplosionsITS, Avi Bufallo, Cold War kids and a few bands I'll be happy to check out. Not a stunning bill for me, but fun none teh less.

Hipsters? To be honest isnt that an overused put-down? WTF is a hipster anyway? If u ask folk at work, they describe hipsters as the kids who ride their fixees everywhere and have one pant leg of their skinny jeans rolled up etc... But there are pleny of fixed gear fans here right who would be horrified to be called hipsters? Based on what my folks are going through in teh UK right now, give me hipsters over hoody wearing lager fuelled wankers smashing up teh local shops and anyone who gets in their way any day of teh week.

    PS. I'm a lumberjack and I'm OK

Yeah I also feel that the term is used extremely loosely and is an overused term. And I agree with hipsters over any of those rioting fools.

Carl, you are so far, the coolest lumberjack I have ever met.

I would like to check them out too. GBV and Weakerthans for me too. Still, Off! and Explosions are my top picks.

The more I look at this bill, the more I think it will be pretty fun and relaxed - its a hassle when there are too many bands that are must-sees.

Talking of which; three must-see bands are playing LA on three consecutive nights. Awesome they are coming, but not so awesome they are all on work nights and chances are I will be working late and/or too tired to go. I might just have to riot.
