Re: Funko Sofubi?!?!? Believe it or not, there are a lot of toy makers who post their in-progress shots and a lot of really great photographers using the #sofubi tag. It's how I find out about new toys and I've learned to love (or hate) some sculpts by seeing them in different poses on IG... Keeps me from making stupid impulse buys. Of course there is the occasional guy dying to show off his "hella sweet hype kaijoo" (and then trying to sell it a month later) but that's actually been less common than Funko posts. You must be following some real jerk bags!
Re: Funko Sofubi?!?!? O don't you worry, we are well on our way to making this just that. Gotta be a little patient, give this thread some time to bloom.
Re: Funko Sofubi?!?!? The jerk bags just happen to follow some of the same cool manufacturers and artists . . . the needy whining is an unfortunate byproduct!
Re: Funko Sofubi?!?!? I just bought a glitter Hikari Batman from fleabay pretty cheap and i think it looks nifty. Please savagely slag me off and tear me a new one. I deserve it for buying fake sofubi. In my defense, i love Batman and i love glitter. I couldn't help myself.
Re: Funko Sofubi?!?!? Not this thread again. Ha, for shame, the Moog. I say, big deal. You bought it because of the Batman association, not the "sofubi" made in China. Which 1 did you get Moog? My Brother got a Ninja Turtle & a couple of the Batman figures for me because I collect sofubi. I was appreciative while also trying to explainthe difference. I don't think he really understood. But I collect all sorts of toys anyhow. I decided to keep 1 of the Batman pieces. The other 2 are available for sale if anyone happens to want them. I went ahead and got a Metaluna Mutan and Stay Puft Marshmallow Man for the same reason of liking them for what they are. Not sure if I would have bought any myself though had I not seen the Hikari figures in person first with the ones my Brohaha gave me. With us sofubi collectors able to see through Funko's presentation of the Hikari line, it is just hard to trust them in knowing what we're actually going to get. But although the paint jobs are obviously a little rushed, it's not bad, and I do enjoy the ones I have. There are certain sculpts that don't make sense to me in this body style at all though, like their Tetsujin, which I wish was different, cause I really like 1 version that isn't available like that in any other T28 toy of any type. As long as you know what to expect with quality, you like the figure's look, and don't care about supporting Funko, get the character if ya want it. I still think that if we're going to talk about Funko Hikari on SB, it should be moved to another section.

Re: Funko Sofubi?!?!? ^ I've also got a weakness for glitter & clear. Here are some pic references to my above post too. The Batman gift I'm keeping + my Metaluna mutie & Marshmeller feller : The Batman & TMNT I have up for grabs if any are interested : That Tetsujin I mentioned :
Re: Funko Sofubi?!?!? ^^ The Mr. Stay Puft is cool and i quite like the Metaluna mutie, too. I also like the Astro Boy and some of the Jiangshi: I see nothing wrong with these toys - other than the fact Funko are misleading people by misusing the term 'Sofubi'. The RRP is pretty high too i suppose. It also makes me laugh that 1,500 is considered 'Limited' I had no idea what 'Limited' meant until i started collecting Kaiju . . . .
Re: Funko Sofubi?!?!? Haven't seen it happen yet, but I'd like it if they became a gateway toy for some folks to get into the more esoteric soft vinyl. Most are decently painted, and the sculpts are solid. Metaluna mutant is worth getting, I bought one, and was fairly impressed. They're great as cheap custom fodder too, with the Batman, Transformers, TMNT, and Skeletor molds consistently selling dirt cheap on amazon or ebay.
Re: Funko Sofubi?!?!? I mainly just like the Funko POP chibi figures but some of these Hikari ones are really awesome.
Re: Funko Sofubi?!?!? I'm a fan of the Star Wars wampa hikari. Pretty awesome sculpt and fits in nicely with my other sofubi.
Re: Funko Sofubi?!?!? That's my grandfather's name, yous sone uhva beetch. And there lays the rub. I also think adding characters to the line just because they're part of a popular franchise is a turn-off. Though I think people would be pleasantly surprised if they saw a Hikari character of interest in person. At this time, I would like to propose that that the name of this thread be renamed "Funko Fauxfubi ".
I got this in the mail today and thought id share it with you guys. This is a new line from Funko called "Hikari Minis" and from what i imagine these will probably be making there way mainstream if the feedback is good just like the Dorbz eventually did. They always seem to send new products in there subscription boxes first before releasing them on a more wide basis. The orange glitter bomb Chopper from Star Wars Rebels is actually really cool. I quite like the look in person and im super interested to see how they will paint these smaller sculpts in the future. So im definitely excited to see more of these. I imagine the price point is going to be much more affordable to. Probably right around the 20 dollar range but at this point its just speculation since i received this in my subscription every 2 months.
Those look fucking amazing! I love those sculpts so much! Is it mainly Asia that gets those versions?
A good friend of mine collects the smugglers bounty. I can appreciate another person enjoy something as much I appreciate sofubi. A lot of the Funko toys are junk. With that being said I enjoyed looking at the Hikari Chopper. No paint in it so they can't mess that up. I think the Hikari are only gonna be sold unpainted with glitter/lame, and sense this was specific to the bounty box any that show up for sale are probably from that box. So for it being made by Funko, it's not the worst thing ever.
