Five Points Fest

I didn’t think I’d make it out this year but, the plans changed.
I’ll being sharing a booth w/ Wes from Last Bastion Studios. I’m not sure what booth it is but, it’s in artist alley.
Gonna have some new toys… Big boys, mediums, and minis. Excited to see all the east coast players.
I’m hoping to catch up with people Friday night during set up.

I won’t be vending this year, I’ll be focusing on the first Majin Kaatashi online release instead, which will probably happen next weekend.

But I might get a pass for Saturday and throw a few things in a back pack.

A couple of years back, my wife started a tradition of gifting me vinyl Gojis on Valentine's Day. My rule is she's the only one that can get me Gojis. So if she can secretly pick me up a Marusan from the man himself, for this Feb, I'd be very happy!

 

Haha. There won't be any Gojis there but there will be Godrases. Consider me in on the conspiracy. ;p

Day one felt pretty lively and looking forward to tomorrow. And definitely the most Skullbrainers under one roof in a long time!

 

I just want to state publicly that I’m horrible with names and stuff. So if I don’t say hello to someone it’s not personal, you’ll know if it is, I’m just old and senile.

I’ve been like that my entire life. If I don’t interact with people on the regular my brain does retain this info for some reason.

Please feel free to call me out/remind me of the fact that we know each other. I will apologize profusely to the point it gets annoying, and hopefully I will remember from then on.

Anyone hear about how sellers did at the show? It was very busy for Marusan on Saturday, and we sold out of the most and least expensive toys relatively quickly, but it was sleepy on Sunday even though it seemed like there was a similar number of attendees.

On a personal level, I really enjoyed seeing everyone and reconnecting. That's always the best part.

 

the layout wasnt my favorite. it seemed some booths were neglected. im not saying i coulda done better but i know some friends had slow traffic both days

 

It was a little odd how some sections were extremely claustrophobic, while others were incredibly sparse. Sparse enough to give Suckadellic, for instance, a nice chunk of space to huff paint or whatever he was up to.

I’m not entirely entitled to an opinion, this being my first, but it might have benefited from being only a single day. After all, by the second day, what’s changed all that much but a very select few offerings? Comic con at least has enough premiers, exclusives and vendors that make it worthwhile to return for a few days.

this was the first time I did both days and sunday was great for just relaxing and chillin for alittle longer.
was also good for picking up some stuff you forgot, or some shirts etc while its not so hectic.
the layout was alittle weird but I cant speak to sales, cause I didnt have a booth. I can say that the DJ can fuck off.
we're all there trying to see friends we dont see often and have conversations. having to yell the entire time was so annoying.

 

Agreed, I could have done without the music. I remember a couple of times where it abruptly stopped and we realized how much we were shouting. My tinnitus has really been bugging me since then.

 

I think I’ve officially decided that 1 day events are the only events worthwhile. Ferchrisake - WONDERFESTIVAL is 1 day and it is massive!

 

I don't know what it is, majority of attendees didn't venture into that "third" room of the venue.
It feels like a concrete slab that was added to the venue, so I noticed a lot of the traffic didn't make it that far.

 

And your room wasn't that far from the DJ. My friend Jake (47 49 Productions) in the artist room in the back said it was much livelier than last year. Is it possible that the music was driving people to the quieter spots?

 

no joke the dj made my vertigo go crazy and i had to keep stepping outside. no diss to the dj but who the hell needs that noise when toy shopping

 

It was incredibly loud. I felt bad for everyone in that part of the space.
