The hating has got to stop. It won't get you any where but pissed off and possibly taint a hobby you enjoy. I was guilty of it when all the KR people came over last year and began pricing me out of SB. And I'm sure when Frank was on the scene and was a one man buying machine there were people here irritated at the market increase... It's going to keep happening. The best thing you can do is have patience and sooner or later you score what you want. It's easier said than done but...what are you going to do?
... You scored a cool mutant head, but holy crap. You spent $1000 on just one of the MANY rare mutant heads out there. whatever gets you off, right?--but damn, it's hard not to say how silly that sounds.
My only problem is that it's unnecessary. It was between two bidders and two of these have shown up in as many months. One should have sucked it up and waited IMO but who knows maybe in a month this will look like a great investment.
I'm sure this makes no difference to some board members, but: - I don't plan on throwing this kinda cash around routinely...again I wanted this guy badly....and apparently so did one other bidder on YJA. - I am down with RFSO, and plan to prove that, but it sorta takes time right? I have been asked a bunch of times by other board members not to bid b/c they wanted a figure, and backed off out of respect if I wasn't already bidding. I have also reached out when I have seen other skullbrainer's usernames if interested in an auction to be sure I am not fucking with anyone's deeply coveted quarry. In one instance I pulled completely out of an auction during the bidding process because that board member PM'd me, and was super passionate about winning the item, so I stepped away and they won it. -All I can say is that for GID RxH....especially older stuff....I am fucking nuts for it. If it was an old GID Evil, I might have gone ever higher (BTW, I do not use Celga)
I'm all for free commerce and spending what you want, just be prepared to be called nuts and stupid for going nuts and paying stupid money for something. You seem to have though, so kudos to you on that. Too many would have flipped out and had a long winded speech about us all being jag offs.
the most I ever paid was like 500 bucks for one of those 1/13 balzac bees or something, and I felt like a retard for doing so...but I was determined to have ll the secret base up to a certain point. I did succeed in that goal, then quit. certain skullbrain member also did some ebay bid-ups on a few things so that I way overpaid on like..the clear skullbrain and so on...which was awesome.
What if Mori were to reisssue some of the early pieces as some other companies have done? You could buy 16 GID Mutants for the price of this one.
Guys, it IS fucking nuts to pay what I paid.....so bring on the commentary...... Aidan is right, I could have waited till the next one...but when I missed the first one that sold a while back, I just didn't want to lose him again. As far as an investment goes, I never look at any toy purchases as investments. This was bagged with one of the old headers...and I just couldn't resist.
man there are guys out there that pay over 1000 bucks for one super rare M.U.S.C.L.E. figure here's a photo of about 4500 bucks or so: if someone is passionate and has the scratch, then by all means they should spend it. while it may seem foolish to some (that maybe don't have the money, are more frugal, jealous, etc.), what it comes down to is the person feeling they got their money's worth. it's the same for any sort of colletion... vintage cars, vintage cans of soda... whatever. there's always gonna be someone out there that a) wants it more and 2) has more money
someone post a pic of the one ur talking about...i think i know which one it is but i want to be sure
that would be awesome..............for the rest of us. I also agree that the name calling and hate should stop. Calling someone you don't know anything about stupid is lame.
It probably would in the eyes of a lot of collectors, who have spent thousands of dollars building a collection.
While it is a stunning price to say the least, it is not as crazy as it could be. (I know that sounds ridiculous.) I have heard several stories of people showing up in Tokyo and offering crazy money for Figures. I even heard of one where a dealer was offered $1k for a figure in his collection, and reluctantly sold it. In a scary way, this isn't the first $1k RxH figure. The original production runs are so small that there is not much you can do other than go big, as most simply don't want to sell, or don't need to sell. It makes it crazy for the rest of us who wish to own the figures, but you can't get pissed about it. I am even missing this one. I know I won't get it unless the stars align, but, I can live with that. I can be happy (and shocked) for LG, because I would be stoked to have it. ALso, the glow Evils are theoretically easier to get then the glow Heads. Although the same number was made of each, some of each of the glow Evils came to the states through Super7. The Heads were released before Super7 could get these, and I could never even track them down for my collection back then.
