Midway down the page after Getter Robo: https://hjweb.jp/article/1482637/ These were shown off at Superfest, coming out in October. 14,800 yen each. If anyone sees a preorder, please let me know, thanks.
Huh, that's unexpected. I don't even see this on Artstorm's website yet, but the sign says 10/2024 sale date. Looks like they are also making the Zillions Tricharger.
HLJ has the Popy reissues up for preorder: https://www.hlj.com/reprint-popy-greatsaurus-godzilla-plx96740 https://www.hlj.com/reprint-popy-greatsaurus-godzilla-green-ver-plx96741
For this price point they are probably being made in China from all new molds. Maybe an original one was scanned to do it.
Yeah, I wasn't planning on buying the green one, just the red, but at those prices I figured I'd just get both. Keep the red one, put the green one on eBay starting at $367.42 and titled "Thing At That Time."
I got my reissues today, they look very nice. Made in China, no surprise, and they come in a box with the Popy footprint on the top.
I finally got around to really checking out the reissues and I think Bandai/Plex did a fantastic job. Vinyl is nice and thick, but glossy (the biggest difference that sets them apart from the originals and really can't be helped, they're made with modern materials), and they did a good job with the paint jobs. I am wondering if this was scanned from an original or sculpted from scratch, but the detail certainly doesn't feel "soft" like some reissues that have been scanned. I don't gravitate towards vinyl figures with more muted colors, but I really love the look of the grey vinyl one. He's going to be my desk buddy for the week: Who else got these and what do you think?
Looks like two more reissues are coming, clear and Jumbo colors: https://www.reddit.com/r/Sofubi/comments/1loegiy/plexart_storm_poppy_repro_godzilla/ (I have never seen that King Ghidorah before no details on that.)
Here is a pre-order for the Ghidorah. I'm not sure what it's a repro of, exactly. Certainly not the original Kingsaurus Ghidorah.
On the sofvi blog it states this is a new addition to the large scale king zaurus line. https://sofvi.tokyo/250628_artstorm/ hobby search has it up for way cheaper than bbts if anyone's interested https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/11220814
I love the new Godzilla color, but I think King Ghidorah is a miss. I know that it's hard to exactly duplicate the style of vintage sculpts, but it ended up looking like something Marmit was putting out in the 1990s.
