I'm surprised I haven't seen any posts about this yet. New Dokugan GEM. It's a beauty, and it needs to come live with me.
ha, that guy rules. I'd love to see an original colorway done up by him with his favorite kaiju figures. The guy has spent so much time painting out other ppl's designs, I wonder what he would do.
I'd like to hear some history on him, if anyone knows any. Given his apparent age, I'd like to know what he's done in the past. Was he an OG marusan employee, anything like that?
I'm pretty sure he paints Dream Rocket figs, for sure he painted Mark Nagata's Drazoran. According to Mark Nagata's blog, Goto-san has been painting vinyl for 50 plus years so it would be really interesting to learn who else he's painted for.
My understanding has been that Mr. Yajima paints the Dream Rocket toys himself, but I am not 100% sure that this is true for all of them.
50 years, wow. that's an impressive resume. I'm really curious now to know what sort of stuff he's painted over the years, and how vinly has changed from his viewpoint. This dokugan looks really great, I'm sure he's painted some other blobpus stuff, no?
Chances are you have a few figures painted by him in your collection. We have talked about him in a few threads. The man should be considered a national living treasure if you ask me. He has painted for MANY companies going back to Bullmark if I remember correctly.
that is so incredibly great. too bad someone like this will largely go unappreciated by most except for a handful of collectors and other artists. I'd like to think he's aware that he has genuine fans of his work though. and I'm betting that I have at least a few toys painted by him, and have that much more appreciation for them now.
yea paulie i think you can still get on this. Tokyocube is taking orders for the dokugan on a request basis, just click the request button and then wait for an email from tokyocube. when i did it , it took a few hours to send me a reply back saying the order was approved by blobpus
