I don't normally do this, but you guys are like friends.

If Philly people (or anyone nearby) doesn't have Halloween weekend plans, and you LOVE horror movies (especially original film prints on the big screen-oooooooh) check this out. My friends are having their 2nd annual 24 hour straight horror fest. Only this year, its daylights savings time, so its really twenty FIVE hours! whoa.

There will be no breaks. Films will be shown for 25 hours straight, and I challenge you to find a better deal for $20! Bring lots of snacks and coffee, and stay up all night with me!

I will most likely be your lovely ticket girl, so say hi if you end up coming out!
Here are some pics of last year:

Do you have to pay film hire/studio fees for the prints you're screening?

Hey, they don't often pay since they own most of the prints. They have been doing screenings for 11 years, and have amassed quite an impressive collection of old prints in those years. I think since they belong to the guys, they can get away with a little more.

I know that sometimes they do rent prints to screen, and usually pay to rent those prints, and there are a few people who try to make them pay (Roger Corman comes to mind) but they tend do have a real DIY Punk ethos about it and just screen stuff a little more on the down low if they might have to pay fees. :)

    Awesome

I was asking because I've tried getting old 35mm prints for my cinema to screen old horror classics around halloween and a) It's hard enough getting the prints in even anything approaching reasonable condition and b) cost is too prohibitive.

    I'm jealous :)

yeah i tried to see if i could find a copy of Harry's list of prints online, and came up with nothing (I've been to his "archives" which is an amazing room of shelves with cans of film filling every available space.

I did find this about him:

Then Quentin thanked Harry Guero – who brought this print down here to show. He’s one of the great print collectors in the country!

haha. I guess Quentin Tarintino borrows prints from him to screen at Alamo Draft House
