I don't have any others, no. I meant to pick up 'Murmur' way back, but I never got round to it. Stigmata looks good. There's not that many of his books translated into English tbh ...
It certainly would ... unfortunately I'm terrible at other languages. Especially written word. Spoken word I've picked up things much more easily!
I enjoy picking up old collections of comics when i see them. This one was in a new bookshop that opened recently, which is a rarity nowadays.
The usual quality hardback from Mr. Burns, i grabbed one from my local comic book store last weekend. A cloth-bound spine again, just like his early hardbacks, which i love ...
Ah! I opened this thread expecting someone mentioning Final Cut. Haven’t had time to pass by my local comic bookstore in a while but/and it’s the next book I’m getting.
Bough so many comics since last month… feel pretty self conscious. but/and made some great discoveries! Swedish artist Linnea Sterte makes great comics! Bernie Wrightson’s ‘Frankenstein Alive, Alive’ has amazing art. Larcenet The Road is a must read (as is everything he ever did, dude is awesome) I think Iris: a novel for viewers should be part of your Black Friday Fantagraphics list next weekend.
More sorting .... the first 18 editions of Starlord from 1978, it was printed on better paper than 2000ad, and aimed at an older audience but it failed, so they took the best characters like Strontium Dog and Ro-Busters and merged with 2000ad.
Incredible! I've been on a deep dive into 2000ad for the past few years; it's taken over 2 shelves with more stuff coming in (perhaps) more often than it should be. I love Ro-Busters and Strontium Dog!!!
You have excellent taste, they're some of the best. As a lucky kid i started reading 2000ad around prog 200 or so, and then picked up a ridiculous amount of their stuff forever afterwards! Lol My dad encouraged reading comics, so 2000ad was delivered every week, from the local shop round the corner. Have you read The Daily Star newspaper strips of Judge Dredd that've been collected? They're some of my favourites, along with D.R. & Quinch and the other Alan Moore stuff ...
I have not read the daily star strips, or the Moore stuff. I got in because of Nemesis the Warlock, and grew to love most of the stories. I'm a big BIG fan of the Dredd epics (scared of going into the Case Files and becoming a completist) and am now ready to dip my foot into the Rob Williams storylines, starting with Low Life and going through Trifecta into his more recent-ish Dredd storylines. Anything with Simon Harrison is a win. John Smith is my favorite writer for the Tooth that isn't Wagner or Mills; Revere and Indigo Prime being my favorites. I have to get back on the horse and try to finish Charley's War; I think plowing through it is the wrong strategy and it would benefit from a slower read. I recently scored Dan Dare HC 1 and am looking forward to seeing Belardinelli go crazy with his aliens and space ships. Shakara holds a special place in my heart. I really hope I can read all of Nikolai Dante, but don't want to go the digital route if it could be avoided. Top tier sci-fi comics, although somewhat hard to locate in the States, I'm afraid! I should probably get Halo Jones soon, too...
Fantagraphics reprinted Richard Sala’s Night Drive (only 500 printed back in 1984). Being a fan of the era of Raw, I had to snag it.
