Has anyone ever used these paints: http://www.cartooncolour.com/catalog/index.php ? From what I understand they are for vinyl animation cells and should bond/stick quite well to the material, but I was wondering if anyone had any experience with them, especially as an alternative for the increasingly-elusive V-Color?
Pushead painted some pirates on the inside with cel paint I believe. They are pretty amazing and cant be topped. boom!
Uh, pretty much every contemporary pop artist uses them to some extent these days. Go on easy, and give a rich opaque when you need it.
I used to work in animation and used these all the time. There great and the technique to apply it is fun.
You do something called "puddling" where you kinda dab in a circular motion. You don't want to spread it around like acrylic. They mix well, you can add a little water, and it dries fast.
Thanks for the responses. It sounds like they will work, until at least the last reply Does this 'puddling' technique mean they cannot be applied like a normal paint?
...also if you order ask them for there pamphlet - it explains the best way to apply and maintain it.
Great info; are these paints light fast (UV resistant)? Now I want to get some and see what else I can abuse.
I've wanted to get some of these for a loooong time, I've just gotta shell out the dough. I am curious about airbrushing with them as well...
OK, one last round of questions before I bite the bullet and buy some paints... these will airbrush OK and like any other paint? What should I use for thinner/cleanup with these paints? I assume they mix normally as well... can't think of any reason why they wouldn't.
