Re: Boris with Ian Astbury Is that Boris/Astbury e.p. out yet? I don't know what the peeps are like at SDCC anymore. The serious comics geeks might avoid the show. The pan-interest-geeks & japanese cosplay geeks would probably be down. I'd check it out in a second*. I think Boris & Astbury could be great together, Boris has their heavy duty glam moments, not sure how Astbury would effect the songwriting. I dig his voice though. *If I go, I'm planning on knocking it out of the park as a lifesize Bemon Mandalorian.
Re: Boris with Ian Astbury Picked this up at the Boris show in San Diego, so the CD has been released. The bummer is that it only has 4 songs. I think the best song is Boris' version of the Cult's "Rain" sung by Wata but "Witches" is pretty rawkin' with Ian on the vocals. I think fans of both bands will like this...
Re: Boris with Ian Astbury Rick Rubin produced that record after being unable to produce the next AC/DC record. He went into it with the specific intention of making the Cult sound like AC/DC.
Coop, that makes sense. Do you like "Electric"? >unless all 4 songs are 10 to 20 minutes long. Sadly, no... But the CD was only $10 bucks at the show. go here from more viewtopic.php?f=23&t=36222
My pal Tim was their tour manager when that record came out, so I spent some time with those guys back then. Nice blokes, but you will never get closer to a real-life version of Spinal Tap... My best story from then is almost getting run over by Kirk Hammett in his Jaguar while walking into A&M. Too bad he missed - I wouldn't have to sell posters to toy nerds - i'd just limp to the mailbox for my settlement checks.
They always seemed to be more about 'living the lifestyle' than the music . . . but Duffy rockin' the Gretsch was always worth seeing!

Re: Boris with Ian Astbury When did Astbury start taking the Edie Sedgewick lookalike model on tours with him? Guess the Nico and Pamela Courson lookalikes had better gigs.
Ian said "Hearing Wata (Boris) sing is just a different space. I love the way she sings (The Cult song) Rain. It’s so refreshing to hear that song interpreted in that way, it’s a completely different song."
Yay-yeahhhh!!!! I waited with Astbury and son on La Brea to get into a Union Party, and of the whole group I got rejected for entry as I am not cool enough. I wrote a whole thing about it on Skullbrain at the time - back when I was enthusiastic and didnt write pluzzone or wuthesaid I love me the Cult (up to and including Electric) and Boris so this should be right up my alley. Every show I saw em play in the 80's was magnificent! Ian knows his way around a hat that for sure.
