So I'm going to comment on this really fast. 1- It was my Bemon (duh) 2- Had to sell something due to some sad personal issues that arose that I'm not really going to get in to (I prefer my private life to be excluded from my toy life.) 3- I didn't think it'd go that high, holy shit!? But honestly it did help a lot and my family is all the better for it, crisis averted. Anyway, I've been on checking/stalking but haven't had time to do any commenting (rejoyce "haters") and will probably be a little less active due to the events/situations that led to the Bemon being sold in the first place.
I think thats completely understandable. Sorry to hear your sad news. I hope everything works out ok for you and yours.
What if you worked a job that made you want to kill yourself by stabbing a sharpened pencil into your ear and went home to nothing you cared about at all and had no outstanding debt but made good money? I didn't buy that Bemon but can see doing it.
I'd invest in something a little more self fullfilling than a toy that retailed for about 85 dollars.
How do you know that's not been covered already? Toys are a step above call girls on the "investment" front (not a good investment). Sometimes leaving a job has ramifications that are much worse than staying. I'd pick a Psychopharmacologist over a shrink in a heartbeat, far more beneficial. Everyone's circumstances are different, coloured by different perspectives, different losses, and different responsibilities. Don't want to disappoint those who're enjoying some schadenfreude but I could've listed any number of scenarios that might account for that purchase. Should've bid on this just for the entertainment value.
It means that $1800 + can be spent very quickly and very easily with absolutely nothing to show for it. People buy neo Kaiju as an investment, for real? I think it'll have no value long term and even knowing that I still waste a small fortune on toys every month. I'm glad I didn't sell my KAWS 5YLs and I'm keeping my Bemon collection. The fact is I also buy toys I know depreciate the instant they leave retail. Not entirely sure what your question means but the above describes what I meant as far as buying toys to invest. You pulled that out of a longer post but omitted the reference to toys as an investment which I was responding too. I doubt the buyer bought that Bemon in lieu of selling Toyota stock short ...
That's why I tell everyone to film all call girl encounters and eBay auctions they partake in. They come in handy on family holidays.
Altruistic investments? Those got boring long ago and aren't remotely fulfilling considering my tax dollars largely go to bail outs and huge corporate bonuses to Executives for failure on a monumental scale and the systematic destruction of the economy. The days of charity have been wasted by the Feds and their Corporate masters. Look to them for altruistic investments but all you'll get is a larger tax bill, unless you went to school with Geithner and his cronies. It seemed you were referring to financial since this thing was so expensive. Money can't buy happiness though it can help you push the pleasure buttons. Looking at the history of the completed auction its fairly obvious what SBer may have bought the Bemon in question.
Oy vey...audiodifficulties is just saying that he would rather take a knitting class, learn to play the guitar, go for a drive in the country...or do something he sees as more fulfilling than paying 20 times more for a toy than its friggin' retail cost. He's not the one who originally suggested the buyer instead donate the money to Haiti relief efforts.
Hmm, that's an obscure take on it but probably right. Haven't done the knitting classes but the rest has been done many times over. I've mostly forgotten how to play guitar at this point so guess I could relearn but why bother. You could do all those things and more considering the auctions end price. One man's pleasure is another's poison and all that. I'd rather have the Bemon; actually I'd keep the $1800 and spend it on things even more wasteful which is why I didn't bid on it.
Hey Krudler while this thread has your attention, can we see your bemon collection? I'm only assuming but I have a hunch it's pretty impressive
